Definitely agree with this; or at least carnet 'rules & regs' are interpreted and applied differently (strictly or loosely) by the various issuing countries. E.g. I signed-up and paid for my carnet with NZAA in Auckland (in person) on February-26. The Carnet Officer knew that the earliest bike+me would be leaving NZ was going to be March-8th. He admitted to me that, strictly speaking, the start date shouldn't really be post-dated, but was prepared to apply an effective starting date of March-8th in any case.

Darwin to East-Timor

Dear Keith,
I've read your shipping-informations from Darwin to Dili.
It sounds quite simple to me. How often does the ship do the passage and what is the price for it?

Hope you could help me,

many Greetz Wolfgang.

You can also visit my site for further information www.heidwolfonbiketour.de

Wolfgang - Toll Marine Logistics (formerly known as 'Perkins Shipping') are the shippers that almost everyone uses.

They ship Darwin~~> Dili 3-4 times a month; so about one passage every 7-10 days. Just for your information, click on the attached .pdf file for the latest shipping schedule.

You can always get the up-to-date shipping schedule by following the links on the LH side of the webpage, e.g: 'International Schedules' --> 'NORTHBOUND SERVICE: DARWIN-DILI-SINGAPORE' --> 'Click to check schedules' to download.

Remember though that the scheduled dates are subject to change without notice. My particular scheduled shipping date changed THREE TIMES altogether, which made forward planning a little tricky.

The cost was about AU$400 from memory. But let me know if you want the precise amount (I'm at work at the moment, so cannot access my invoices/records properly.)

Cheers

KEITH
