ATMs, Travellers Cheques or cold hard cash? (North/East/South Africa and Middle East)
The title of this thread pretty much says it all!
What would you recommend moneywise for these countries, out of ATMs, travellers cheques or cold hard cash?
I'd assumed (I now think wrongly) that we would just use ATMs all the way round, but just heard that, for example, in Ethiopia, there are only a few chances to use them (the DashenBanks) so should not be relied on. Is this case in more countries? Just trying to gauge whether to take US$ travellers cheques, and approx how many..
- Saharan Africa: Tunisia, Libya, Egypt
- East/South Africa: Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Zambia, Namibia, Botswana, SA, Mozambique, Malawi
- Middle East: Jordan, Syria, Lebanon
