African insurance
Im departing in July '11 for an expedition I am doing in aid of improving education in Africa. I will be travelling through 35 countries in Africa. Can anyone recommend an insurance company for third party insurance. I have a SA registered vehicle and on a SA passport.
Thanks a million |
There's many threads re this on the HUBB. You won't get a pan-African 3rd party insurance policy; you will need to buy it on arrival in each country, although I think there may be some sort of 'customs unions' between some clusters of countries eg Tanzania/Kenya/Uganda which mean insurance bought in 1 covers for the others.
Comprehensive ie for the vehicle and personal accident for yourself - that's a different matter. That CAN be bought for everywhere. Unsure re SA companies, but certainly the likes of Campbell Irvine in the UK do this. |
Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe are covered by COMESA according to their website here:
