April Departure

Hi Guy's
Please if any one is seriusly thinking of traveling to Thailand could you please let me know as Sheen must inform the agent in China the details of each person and bike, the cost of transit should be about 600 pounds sterling each which is a lot less than going southern route and paying a carnet plus air fare to Bangkok from India plus we will have a support vehicle in the event of breakdown .
We need at least 5 riders for this price but if we have more then the price comes down, it will take 3/4 months for the paper work to be complete and we must pay a 10% deposit and the balance when we arrive in china, so if you are not sure then all you will lose is your deposit which must be paid by 15 January to Sheen using paypal.
As of now we only have 3 rider's who are Sheen, Ken, and Jimmy so come on and get involved it should be a great trip and you can choose which route you want to go ether Turkey, Iran, stans or Ukrain , Russia and Kazakstan we can then all meet on Chinese border to cross 1 June 2008.
so if you need any more info please email via the Hub and let's get organised.

Regards and a Merry Xmas to you all

Hello there,

We're looking for at least a couple more riders to join up to make this cut across China, with proper paperworks, etc. If schedule fits up for anyone going that way and needing more info, feel free to contact me or Ken for more details.

I'm up for crossing China with you guys and would pursue the stans/Russia/mongolia route. Where would you plan to enter China...? I'd be up for Tajikstan I guess, since that'll be the shortest route going down to Pakistan... would it not...

Let me know how this fits in for you. Othersise I guess I'd go to Vladivostok, and get the ferry and air freight to India...

ken001 22 Dec 2007 17:11

Shortest route

Hi Nick
The shortest route in the northern one and its also the cheapest as less visa's to get and you don't need a carnet, for going via Rumania, Moldova, Ukrain there is no visa requierment for UK citizens so only need Russia, Kazakstan and China and can get Laos visa on demand at chinese border same as Thai, if you need any further info please email and we can have a chat and if sheen agrees I can pass on his phone number.

Re soon off

Hi Ken, I will call you today, its taken me a few days to catch up and a good New Years party didn't help!!. I need to have a list of documents etc that Sheen will need to do the initial arrangements. I have to MOT my bike and arrange U.K. plates this week. I am not going to get a Carnet, as I see it there are no Carnet countries on or around the route, anyway will call you this morning and sort some details. Happy New Year all, I hope all ypur ideas are coming together and everything is progressing to plan. To those who are unsure about this trip...its become very very possible due in no small part to everyones efforts and hard work. It now seems through Sheens efforts a guide will be available and at a reasonable cost...the route to the Chineese border can be your own, just meet near the border on June 1st and pick up the guide..or cross before if you get lucky!! So lets have a heads up....whose still on track for a June 1st rendavous????

Have a good 2008 Jimmy

sheen 4 Jan 2008 18:12

just waiting

Hello Jimmy and all, bike's ready and right on track. Just some paperworks in the way. My route will take me to Istanbul around 3rd week of April. Wondering if anyone's around there at that time and interested to ride east from there into northern Iran and then up through Stans ??

B rgds, Sheen

may come to china......

Hey guys,

I spoke to you Sheen just after xmas. Sorry I never got back to you as I said I would.

Am still seriously considering joining you, and am trying to weigh up going thru CHina or India on a carnet... Like maybe some of you know I lived in India for 3 yeas, and would love to see more of it. Bypassing it into Loas pretty much rules India out for thi trip...

I know time is tight for making a decision. Is there a 5th person if I'm in? The guy I'm riding with is hanging a left at China and going to Vladivostok, so it would just be me joining.

Just wanted to update you on my situation.

Nick

Its time to stand up and be counted...where are you all

Bump Bump Bump Bump Bump Bump Bump Bump Bump Bump Bump apologise to the moderator.

Ok this thread has had god knows how many posts and been read zillions of times....I can't believe there isn't another person with the time money and sense of adventure to join us and make it economically sensible ( please save me from having to smuggle my bike into China!!!)..

Incase you are not aware we are now at the stage where if you think you might like to go you have to stump up £60.00 and forward some details, that £60 buys you the option of going..the pasperwork has to be initiated now...should you decide not to go..youve lost £60. Should you decide not to stump up the £60 you've lost the opportunity and are condemned to a life time of if onlys. So come on stop dreaming start living!!! you only pass this way once!!! ( unless you have a hopeless sense of direction like me, in which case you will probably never pass it or even get close..So whose in?.

Jimmy

( making sure I have something to tell the grandkids)
