been researching for months ! has to be June, July, Augusta the latest.
im not sure about Russian visa at the mo, for obvious reasons !! lol has any one else been thinking of this route for this summer ? im looking at a solo rtw. will be leaving uk beginning of june at the latest ? |
I think most folks are going to be avoiding Russia this summer. Just a guess. Good luck with that though. Send pics when you get to Crimea.

Avoiding Crimea and/or eastern part of UA might be wise. Avoiding Russian Federation I see no reason as a traveller.
Anyway, we will go this summer. GRTZ, JP |
Outdoorjim, unless you know different, I believe there is no longer a direct service that ships from Magadan to Alaska. The airline that Ewan and Charley used went bust some time ago. There have been a few threads on the subject. My understanding is that the route is now a bit more convoluted and some folk ship their bikes by sea to Vladivostok, then from there to Japan and onward to the US.
If you have discovered a better way, please let us know. There are many people here, including John (Roynie) and myself, who would be interested. We started looking into this when we came up with the idea for Inagh to China, but found no obvious solution, so we will not re-enter Russia but rather ship from China. |

The ongoing developments in Ukraine are being closely monitored and a 'plan B' is in place, but I'm hopeful that we'll still be able to travel through Ukraine in April. |
Hi, I start next week from Switzerland, I came to UK, than Nordkapp end from the 1° June I'm in Russia, than Mongolia and finally Magdan or Vladivostok. From there ship to north or south america.

We departured as well, will be in Russia 3 times this trip.

Us too - four of us heading to Vlad via Mongolia and BAM. Skirting around the top of Ukraine through Lithuania and Latvia. (To avoid a visa for Belarus.)
We leave in June providing things don't go pear-shaped. Paul |
