Due to work and personal matters it is not certain but I am planning to do a trip like that in April 2010. I live in Ankara and a Turkish citizen so except Egypt visa, Syria and Jordan do not ask for visa from us. But as i said this plan is not certain. If your way passes through Ankara, send me a message, I would like to host you.

Cheers,
Ozgur

I was looking at this a while ago, and understood that you can't travel from Morocco to Algeria (you have to go back and enter from Spain). Then you need a guide for Algeria and Libya (more expense). So I left it.

Are you using a guide in these countries?

cheers.

Correct (Can't cross Morocan/Algerian boarders), that's why I'll be taking the ferry from Tunis to Genova and back. There is not much in Algeria (will have seen enough desert in Jorday, Sirya and Egypt), and I can do Morocco properly (as opposed to passing by) later on.

It is unlikely that I will need a guide in Libya, cause I'll stick to the coast route on a 5 days transit visa.

What bike are you on?

Cheers.

Planning to go that way, but in June-July (would like to do it another time but can´t!)... and probably not going to Egypt, because of carnet issues. May want to visit Israel, but still undecided. Turkish south coast certainly, then Syria, Jordan, and after that we´ll see. Got only about 1 month for the whole trip, so we may actually ship the bike home from somewhere in the region.

had to detour from iran-turkey-syria to iran-...-germany-...-turkey-syria but arrived in gallipoli turkey today. headed to izmir tomorrow then a bunch of places beginning with "A" along the coast.. then aleppo syria and south from there.

if anyone is around, drop us a line. saw a bunch of gs'ers through greece and east turkey on the road today.

gotta be in sharm-el-sheik egypt on 15 april for personal thing so moving pretty quick. aiming for cairo about 18 april then on south to the cape!

take it easy
dave
