Thailand - Myanmar - India, May 2017 +/- a week or two.

Hi,

My girlfriend and I are planning to cross Myanmar with Osuga from either Thailand or Laos (if possible) to India, on two motorcycles. We're hoping to gather a group to share the cost. :helpsmilie:

Laos has become an idea to avoid entering Thailand twice with the new guide restrictions in 2017 :thumb down:

If you think you'll be crossing East to West during the month of May please get in touch. Dates are not set yet.

4wheelers are obviously welcome too!

Lee and Veronika.

Update on where we can cross.

Can not cross into Myanmar from Laos. So we're planning to cross at Myawaddy, southeast of Myanmar.

I have cost details, PM me for information.

Hello Lee and Veronica

We left our bike in Russia and we want to do Laos and Thailand around early/mid July 2017 . we finish to ride China on the 27th of June . We are looking for more riders to share the cost , so far we have this quote from a company:
Here the rough calculation so far:

service will charge for 8 days
Distance from Nongkai to Padang Besar total about 2,500 kms / for BigBikeTours staff total about 4,200 kms
1. Chiang Mai - Nongkai 460
2. Nongkai - Sukhothai 500
3. Sukhothai - Kanchanaburi 450
4. Elephant Kanchanaburi
5. Kanchnaburi - Chumpon 480
6. Chumpon - Padang Besar 590
7. Padang Besar - Huahin 810
8. Huahin - Chiang Mai 870

9,000 x 8 = 72,000 Guide Fee incl. Motorcycle, Food etc.
Gasoline for guide motorcycle about 12,500
Hotel for tour guide 1,500 x 7=10,500
Registration for the bikes about 1,500 x 2 = 3.000 THB
3rd party Insurance 1,200 x 2 = 2.400 THB

Total about: 10.400 THB (= about 2.800 USD)
(not including your accommodation yet)

We live in Tasmania , Launceston . Please let us know if you are interested jwells@samttours.com
Cheers

Still looking for trip sharing?

Hi Lee

Are you still planning to cross Myanmar in May? We are looking at an 11 day trip with Burma Senses going through Inle Lake/Bagan/Mandalay (8 days riding, 3 days sight seeing/not riding). Our 60 day Thai visa expires on 27th May so we plan to leave by then.

If this length of trip is of interest to you, let me know and we can share the costs a bit better. We are looking to book in the next few days. Burma Senses seem to have a good reputation, have been very helpful and the prices are good.

We are two up on a 40 year old BMW so the pace may not be blistering!

Matt

Hi Lee and Veronika,

In your first post you are talking about the new guide restrictions in 2017 for Thailand. What is it exactly? We are planning to drive a 4x4 in Thailand (but not Burma) this year and didn't have this info...

We are going on an Asia tour from France to Japan. I thought only China and Burma had such restriction...

Thanks and best,
Hugo
