TET Spain

Hello - I'm looking to do a week (flexible) long ride on the Spanish TET in September 2020. I ride a WR250R, so I'm trying to avoid long highway stretches, and generally opt for smaller roads or dirt where possible. I've done some trips to Portugal and Northern Africa on the WRR, and it handled it really well --- As long as you're not in a rush. I currently live in Madrid and am in my mid-30s. I don't have the details planned out yet, but the plan is to enter the trail in the east and ride up north and eventually loop back down after Bilbao. I'm fine with camping or hotel/motel. I'll be doing this trip anyway, but company would be fantastic. I'm also flexible on the dates, so don't hesitate to ask.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...5f09350e5e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...e4d902a359.jpg

TET Spain

Hi Joteism

I usually have an annual trip in September to trail ride in Northern Spain. This year everything is up in the air so not sure if I am going to make it this year. However if I do it will probably be in the second week of September and I will be staying for about 8/9 days . I will be in Navarre and Aragon primarily . I generally stay in one place for a few days camping or hotel and ride around before moving on . So it may be possible that we can meet up - will let you know once I know. Would be interested from your point of view as to how open Spain is likely to be . I know things can change quickly. All the best.

Hi Russt,

Im in Barcelona city centre right now (past few weeks), and things are getting back to normal, bars and restaurants are mostly open again, and people are going about their usual business, shops are fine, no queues and no trouble with availability of anything.

In Catalunya its now mandatory to wear a face mask in public, you can be fined up to 100€ for not doing so. When eating, drinking etc., is allowed to remove it and when sitting in a bar / terrace etc. This is a result of a spike of cases in a town in the Lleida region. Other spikes and regional lockdowns are a risk right now.

Hi Russt!
I don't get notifications in the app, so missed this reply. At the moment I'm not aware of any restrictions in travel. Masks need to be worn wherever you're unable to maintain a two meter distance from another person. Restaurants and bars are open at limited capacity. I suppose it's possible that certain hotspots may go back in lockdown, to me it seems unlikely that entire regions would do so. But it's difficult to say at this time. I'll update this thread every once in a while with the latest info and you can make the determination. Anytime in September works for me, so just let me know.

September is a few weeks off so anything can happen by then but the current hot spots of Aragon and Catalonia are right in the middle of your planned trip. Navarre and Basque Country are also high. You can view the situation in various regions at https://www.rtve.es/noticias/2020072.../2004681.shtml

I'm headed for Granada Province in Andalucia in a week's time but fortunately the situation there isn't so dire.

Our cave house (Cueva Rojo) is only 2km away from the TET route (first map). There's a much more exciting way to cross our valley and I must get in touch to suggest this (the second map is my colour-coded tracklogs showing relative difficulty of tracks).

Hi,

Out of interest as it looks pretty close to the TET route !

Last year rode for a few days around where Aragon, Valencia & Catalonia meet. Three of us on KTM's from a chap that runs tours in the area.

Parc Natural de la Tinença de Benifassà was stunning to ride through. Rode about 20 miles during the week, was very quiet. On one of the peaks you could see Parc Natural del Delta de l'Ebre.

Would be grand to do a trip again, but this year with the covid makes things a bit hectic.

Enjoy your adventure. Be good to see a shot or two and hear about your experince as well.

Saludos
Chris

Hey! I just looked up the Tinença de Benifassà*park and it looks like the TET route runs slightly the the west of it. But the park itself looks awesome, so might make a slight detour. Thanks for the tip! Your ride looks to have been fantastic as well!

It's indeed a bit tricky this year with the current situation, but I'm hoping to still be able to get it done. I'm currently road tripping by car with my lady in Asturias and everything seems to be open. But again, it all depends on how these next few weeks go.

Cheers

P.S. I'll for sure post pics and will share a YouTube clip if I ever get around to editing it :)
