Straight up Africa
 

Right then, bike is built (HPN 1043 Paris-Dakar courtesy of the brilliant Altus Pienaar of Capetown), carnet sorted, all visas glued into passport (just!), bags packed, two spare tyres (Michelin Deserts) and I fly to Capetown on Tuesday heading for Tunis via Namibia, Angola, DRC, Congo, Gabon, Cameroon, Nigeria, Niger and Algeria (through Tamanrasset).
Anyone else going up (or down!) be good to meet up and ride awhile.

It sure sounds like a very fascinating trip! Haven't heard many people doing it...

How easy was it to get DRC and Congo VISAS? The internal political situation doesn't affect anything(?)

That sounds like a great trip. Just out of curiosity; how long did it take you to arrange the visas? Which of those countries do you expect will require your having a carnet?
