Stella rally

I'm heading to the Stella rally July 2018 on the Italian and France borders looking at camping and hostels, leaving England from hull ferry if any one is heading to the rally and looking at riding there, I'll be taking two weeks so I'll be looking at taking some great biking roads,
I'll more than likely be on my twin xrv750, if it's something that you fancy get in touch and send the details
Thanks

The Stella's usually the 2nd Sunday in July so I'm guessing it'll be the weekend of the 7th / 8th next year. If that's the case I may well be in the area and possibly riding down from the UK on Tues 3rd. It's all a bit vague at the moment as I haven't done much more than kick a few dates around but with commitments here that looks like the only window.

I don't know if you've been to the Stella before but it's more of an "event" than a rally in the usual sense. I've only been once - in 2015 - but it was an interesting day even if I didn't know what was going on most of the time. Here's a link to my writeup of the experience: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...5-stella-82827 Sorry the pictures have succumbed to Photobucket's blackmail.

While trying to find the Stella 2018 date Uncle Google suggested this as an possibility (if money's not an issue): https://www.guidedmotorbiketours.co....laalpinarally/ I've never seen it "formalised" before; it's usually one of those events that people just get to know about somehow (as I did).

I did the hard alp tour in 20015 on a 1150gs and I'm sure I'll do it again, on the way to the hard alp I passed through where the Stella rally was and the scenery was mouth watering and I thought I would like to visit that area at some point,I new it was only an event but the point was it gave me a base so I can ride the area.
I plan to leave the week before so looking at two weeks holidays and I'll be riding most of those days,

The Stella Alpina always takes place on the second Sunday that occurs in the month of July; everything else is flexible.

Stella Rally

Hey guys

I’m doing the Stella as I do every year but solo this year. As the rest have other commitments.
Come and find me on the mountain or I’ll be in a Campsite in Beaune on the Friday. It would be good to have a few beers and a natter on the Saturday. I’ll be on a White BMW Xchallenge normally camped up on the car park near the Refuge.

I'm up for meeting on the way - I have got 2 weeks so am planning on leaving June 30/July 1st and plan on maybe doing stelvio or taking my time through France/The Alps on the old military roads etc. before getting to Bardonecchia on the Friday...

After Sunday I am toying with a quick blatt to Monte Carlo and then follow the coast towards Cannes, Saint Tropez, Marseille to the Camargue lakes nefore heading back - happy to meet up if anyone is doing something similar - Tents/Hostels for me

bradders 3 Jul 2018 09:10

I'm heading down first thing Friday morning and plan to be Bardonecchia by Saturday afternoon. Ill attempt the Sommellier on the Sunday and then fancy exploring the old military roads for the few days after, would like to try the Col du Parpaillon.

I understand you can wild camp at the foot of the Sommellier on the Saturday?
Do any of the experienced guys recommend this or best to camp in town?

Ill keep an eye out for you BikingTiger.

I'll be on an overloaded doh 2010 Grey BMW1200GS bier
