States - Central America - South America

I am looking for a travelling companion(s) on a trip riding through Central and South America. I'm leaving Vancouver in mid May (on XT 600) , heading South - I would be interested to hear from people with similar plans.
Thanks
Alan

Hi Alan,

We are planning to ride south from LA later this year, I am also on an XT, so depending on how fast(or slow) you are going, maybe we can meet up along the way.

Sian..

I'm also going that route, but first I'm going to Nova Scotia (from NYC) then Alaska, then entering Mexico around Oct 1. I plan on flying from Panama to Ecuador, and then to Tierra del Fuego, and then back to Venezuela. Sounds like I'll be trailing all of you by a few months, but if your plans change let me know - I'm also meeting up with someone I met through this site as I go towards Mexico, but the more people the better. I've got a 650 GS Dakar.

I am leaving next week (June 12) on that same route. I am leaving from South Carolina and will make it down into Mexico somewhere around the first of July. Sounds like you will have a good bit of distance on me but if you are taking it real slow let me know and maybe will cross paths. That goes for any other travelers on that route. Best of luck and safe travels.

TDF in October - for Irishdev

For Irishdev - I am planning a similar trip entering Mexico at Nogales about October 17. I am interested in linking up for all or part of the trip to Ushuaia. I cannot contact you directly because the system requires 5 posts first. Let me hear from you either privately or via another post and we'll see whether our plans match up.

Alan, I am also planning the same trip in the same time frame. I'm in San Fran area and will be riding an 883 Sportster:( . I have not seen too many people touring on one of these but I went to Alaska on it and had no problems, so I expect the same in South America! Email me Wood_614@hotmail.com

Sportster Tony

Hi Tony, HD were planning to set up an assembly plant in Curitiba, Brasil.
I don't know if it ever kicked off, but will check and post a note if so. Also there are a fair number of HD's ridden as beach cruisers in Rio, Sao Paulo and the eastern states, so there is a good dealer network on that side of the continent. My Hardly Dave MT350E raises eyebrows in Rio, but spares for that are a DHL deal. You will be OK on the 833, just power on through the loose stuff and enjoy it.

Good Luck.

Hi Alan my name is John and i will be flying from the uk to Toronto around the 5th of June, then heading out to Nova Scotia, then crossing Canada, up to Prudhoe Bay before turning south for the long run down to Tierra Del Fuego. The plan is to return to the UK via Buenos Aires sometime in January 2010,due to my complete lack off Spanish it might be a good idea to team up with somebody especially if they have any language skills. John, you need to check the date of Alan's post as its years old, i too am doing the same trip as you and had just posted a reply when i noticed the date.
I will be heading up to Alaska about the same time as you, though am not sure if i want to go to Prudhoe Bay, i may go to inuvik instead, but would be great to meet enroute somewhere.
