Stans 2014
 

Hello everyone!

This summer I will go on a tour from Austria around the Stans and back.
My plan is the following:

Leaving July 1st from Austria
- head to Odessa (Ukraine) where I'm going to take the ferry across the black sea to the Kaukasus (about 5th to 8th July).
- Kaukasus: driving around in Georgia and Armenia
- and via Transit Visa into Aserbaidjan
- from Baku (Aserbaidjan) I will take the ferry (across Caspian sea) to Aktay in Kazachstan (Kazach visa starts from 27.7., for two months on)
- there directly into Uzbekistan, where I'm going to spend about 10 days
- then spending enough time in Tadjikistan and Kyrgistan
- after this entering Kazachstan (second entry) (to Almaty and further to Astana)
- On 27.9. I'm going to leave Kazachstan
- via Russia (transit visa) and the Ukraine (if no serious troubles occur, due to the conflict)
- back to Austria

all in all it will be about 3,5 months

I would be happy to find somebody for covering some distances, to meet, and to enjoy a cold beer :thumbup1:

Just check before you go - when I was there in 2008, I was told that you couldn't enter Azerbaijan with an Armenian stamp in your passport.

Thx PaulM for info! I think it's not like this nowadays, propably some more issues at the boarder with the stamp.. I already asked in the forum to make sure.

Most people seem to be leaving Europe round late April or May.
But if you only have 3.5 month you will be travelling fast and probably catch up with few people.

We are leaving the UK on the 22d April and down France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Georgia, Russia, then Kazakh, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, back to Kazakh, then Russia, Mongolia. TheN up to Russia and Irkutzk, where we will try to get the trans Siberian train Moscow or St Petersbourg.... We plan 4 months but could take 6, we are in no rush....

Maybe see you on the road. Give your email to Noël so you are on the email distribution list. It will come handy once on the road to find out where is everybody else.
