Senior Kiwi in Peru and Ecuador.
 

Well I will be on September 27. Pick up my bike from Toby of around the block tours in Huancayo a couple of days later. Have purchased a Sumo Tekker 250cc.

Plan is Cusco, MP , Titicaca then head north to Ecuador and back to Peru. I fly out on Dec 20. Maybe will fly to the Galapagos for some diving. Everything is fluid but at my age I am not into serious dirt but plan on tackling a few of the "devil" roads

I am a retired Kiwi and have ridden Europe , Ukraine, Morocco,Turkey and NZ on my V Strom 650, Couple of years ago did 9000km in Central America on a Suzuki 125 and last year cycled 2000 km through Cuba.

I think a street dog would know more Spanish than me but I manage to muddle through with a sense of humour, patience and I hope, politeness.

Would be nice to meet up with fellow travellers to share experiences and a beer.

I may be in Peru and maybe Ecudor about the same time. I have really good friends in Huanchaco near Trujillo and left my wrecked V-Strom 650 in Quito last year after a bad wreck.

Hi Chris

All well will be heading towards Cuzco from Huanaco on Oct 2/3. Will probably take in MP on the way . I will then go on to Lake Titicaca.

Will then turn north for Nazca and the canyons, back to Huanaco ( sp?) and head for the coast and then Ecuador. I fly back to NZ on Dec 20.


I am travelling on a Sumo Tekker 250cc and staying in hostels , hotels etc.

Retired kiwi, done fair bit off touring on bike, cycle and motorhome. Would enjoy a beer and a yarn if you are around.

Hi Peter,
Am currently in Costa Rica. After starting my residency process, I am deciding on which bike to buy. Now, it is either a KLR in Colombia or a V-Strom in Brazil. I would prefer the V-Strom, although it doesn't have ABS and the owner, Mococaman is VERY slow to respond.

Then where will you go? Will you stay inland all the way to Huancayo then Cajamarca or ?

I am heading to Huanchaco, near Trujillo, soon and expect to be there by 20 October or so. I will stay there with friends awhile, so if you are coming thru, lets meet. bier

Now in Puno and heading for Arequipa on Saturday 15/10 then up through canyon country, Nazca, Pisco then Huanuco. Trujillo is definitely on the list but I guess around Oct 28 if not a bit later.

Motomo, that yellow V-Strom of Mococaman is a nicely setup bike, worth waiting for I think. He's quite a character.

Leaving Huaraz tomorrow 30/10 and should be in Trujillo on Monday afternoon.

I really thought about that Wee Strom (as I have had two others),
in Brazil and asked a number of questions. He only responded that I could call him but gave no answers. It was a signal to me to not do business with someone who couldn't be bothered to give any info, even though he's from Michigan like I am. :stormy:
