Scotland to Oz April 2009
 

:welcome: Hi to one and all... well as the title says, Scotland to Australia in April 2009. The route is as follows but by no means finished, this's the early stages of planning, i.e. I know the route I'm taking and all visa/documentation requirements... just about!! Ferry from Rosyth-Zeebrugge (31/03/09), Belgium, Germany, Czech Rep, Austria, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia (taking 6 months) and Australia (spend 6 months). So I send an open invitation to anyone interested in riding some or all the way. Plus if anyone has any info, or words of wisdom, places of interest, they will be greatfully recieved. This certainly is the longest journey I've undertaken with my bike (UK & Europe to date), spent years using planes, train, foot and hitching over Europe, North Africa and Asia, but taking a bike this distance!!!

Yes there are about 4/5 of us leaving for Thailand and going your route also some are going on to Australia so just take a look at the Thailand and take it from there, I am in Liverpool and the rest around UK and Nice and we have a guide booked in China but the more that go's the cheaper it is so you are most welcome to travel with us and if you need any info drop me a message

Hi Ken, thanks for the invite, we'll have to keep in contact over the coming year. I've read items about "guides" in China, organised by the Chinese Ministry of tourism? Not sure if this's correct? But maybe you'le be able to help out there? :thumbup1:

Early planning is the thing!! 2009!
Got lots of info on routes as far as Mongolia. (Both above and below the Black Sea.)
I'm setting off with Mick from the previous post in May this year. Mick will head north from Almaty whilst I'll head south through Kyrgyzstan and back across the Caspain Sea.

Slight change of plans!
 

Hi, again, well theres been a slight change in plans... the date of leaving? It's been brought forward, leaving may, june this year (2008). Certain obstacles that were preventing departing earlier have been resolved in a matter of days, much to my delight!

A year earlier than expected - that's what I call a bonus!
Mick and I are leaving on 6th May but are having a lazy trip across Eastern Europe (a week in Romania)
If you could manage the 6th May you'd be more than welcome to travel with us or if not, maybe you could catch up with us on route.
