RTW-Trip through Russia and USA
Hey mates,
I am planning to do a round the world tour in 2011. I plan to leave Central Europe (Munich/Vienna) in April and come back in September, going through Slovakia and Ucraine, then through Russia (perhaps via Casachstan) until Vladivostok. Then take a ship over to the US and drive the Route 66 to the East Coast and take a ship back home to Europe. It is planned to do this trip with my Yamaha Trailway 125 ccm. I know the power is not that much, but it is a very robust bike and on the streets through Russia you can't go faster than 90 km/h anyway. Looking for one or more travel-partners for this ambitous tour. I am 34 years old, work in managment and want to break out. Feel free to comment and contact... Alois |
Besides fantastic reports by Walter Colebatch posted on ADVrider, here is another link to Oisin's report going from Ireland to New York in 2010.

You could have your bike shipped home by Knopf Tours. :thumbup1:
MotorbikeTransport Gabe Bolton completed his RTW last year his blog is here. www.GABE-RTW.co.uk Both Oisin and Gabe stayed at my home during their trip. I am located 125 miles northwest of New York City and I can help with routing and make introductions to other helpful people in the USA. |

The average Russian rides and drives very, very fast - they are truly crazy so make sure you have a bike fast enough to get out of their way. On the US highways it's the same - average speed 85mph (140kmh). Route 66 only ever went LA to Chicago - not the East Coast - and now you will only find short sections of it in Arizona, New Mexico and Oklahoma, maybe 3-400km in total. A little research may be in order before you head off. |
