Baja Campers welcome South of La Paz on pacific beach
 

Eh, I got a nice spot on the beach(Los Ceritos) for safe camping, anyone welcome to visit or camp. I got some tools too.Hope to be there by mid Oct 15ish, my Gsa is waiting there for me . I may go north for a ride to Baja 1000 then head back to Pescadero 10km south of Todos Santos.KM69 HWY19 , on the beach, big palapa in front of Art and Beer (where they sell...),anyways i may be there till April unless I go souther on bike. It was great to have some visits last year from guys on the road. A crossing I like is Tecate which takes you to Ensanada, but t:welcome:hats the paved road.

WOW, stoked to hear so many people are going to be on a similar route! I'm leaving around Oct 17th from near Vancouver BC and heading south. I plan on taking some spanish lessons along the way....maybe Guatemala? Going to be riding as far as I can south....Like Rio Grande before it gets too cold and then taking my time on the way back up. Would like very much to meet up with anyone who wants to do some riding, have some drinks or just share some stories. I'm bringing camping gear and I'm hoping to tent as much as I can, any thoughts on if this is a bad idea safety wise?

1) How much luggage storage??? I'm looking at Givi top case 46L and 2 x 21L sides plus Tank bag which doesn't include tent and sleeping bag. How much storage everyone else got?
Happy trails 38L sides, 33L top and 2- 30L dry bags for on top of the panniers. Small tank panniers and extra large tool tube.

2) Who's got International licenses? Thinking I'll pass on this one.
I picked one up hoping to make a bunch of laminated copies for crooked cops. Still trying to figure out how to make them look legit.


3) GPS choice?
Got a new Garmin Montana and Ram mount. It hasn't showed up yet so I hope it's good!
4) Crossing Darrien Gap? Ideas here?

5) Mock Insurance docs for borders, anyone got a copy I can have a play with?
Probably buy whatever at the border.
6) Currency exchange? I have America funds already and was thinking loading up an America Dollar Credit card to use and pull cash with. Thoughts?
I'm bringing gold bars to barter with. No, my Royal bank card worked in Panama before....If not I can use online banking to put funds onto my visa
7) Which Medical insurance? I have bought a SPOT, but still need Medical for getting sick and stuff like that. Suggestions?
I was recommended Atlas Atlas Travel Insurance Coverage Review | HCC Medical Insurance ® They have good prices and good coverage. I especially like the extended extreme sports coverage cause I'm likely to do something painful at some point.

8) Anyone looked at Prepay mobile phone cards through out the trip? I've got a blackberry with GPS, but I'll need data. Probably cheaper to just use GPS, haha! Thoughts?
If you get your phone unlocked before you go you can pop in any prepaid sim card and have way cheaper phone rates than you'll ever pay at home. Not sure how good your phone GPS would be....

9) Camera choices. So far I got a Panasonic Lumix TS3 Waterproof. Thinking I want higher quality. thoughts?
I have a point and shoot for in my pocket but I just bought a digital SLR for taking nice pics. Bringing my laptop for photo editing and website updating as well.
