Portland-Ushuaia-BA, Oct 07-Feb 08

I am leaving Portland mid-October 2007, crossing into Mexico at Nogales October 16-18, continuing through Mexico, Central America, flying to Cali, onto Cusco and into Argentina through Potosi and Salta, picking up route 40 down the east side of the Andes, including San Martin, El Calafate, Puerto Natales, Punta Arenas to Ushuaia, returning to BA to ship the bike and myself home. If anyone is interested in joining me, I'm flexible on the exact route, but I cannot leave before mid-October. I will not be camping.

If this interests anyone, please post a response.

I am leaving two weeks before from eugene with the same destination, but will be camping and flyfishing along the way. Maybe we could meet up. I'll be in Baja a week, Guadalajara a few days, before heading south in earnest. Let me know your timeframe, or we could meet for a scotch and go over details and maps.

I doubt we'll meet. I will be in Bolivia in early December trying to beat the bulk of the rainy season (Nov-Mar). Enjoy your trip.

To whom are you addressing this reply? (It's impossible to communicate with these postings.)

who knows?

Chip,
I'm retiring from education this year and looking for this type of adventure. Do you have any other details planned yet? Depending on your time frame it might work out.

Chipg:

My wife and I are flying our 1150GSA from Sacramento, Ca. to Lima and arriving on Oct. 23, 2007. From there we plan on heading into the Mts. and work our way to Cusco. Then south through Bolivia and then into Chile (San Pedro de Atacama) and then back over the Mts. to Salta. Then it's south along route 40 and probably one more pass over the Mts. into Chile to ride the Carretera Austral Road south. Then it's back into Argentina with a visit to El Chelten and El Calafate (Glacier Nat. Park) and on to Torres del Paine. Finally we will end up in Ushuaia. We are planning on shipping the bike back from either Ushuaia or Punta Areanas just before Christmas but if we can not make arrangements there, we will ride on to BA. We have return tickets from BA on Christmas eve. We may cross paths.

When are you looking at being in BA and shipping your bike back? I am heading down into South America from Canada later this year on my R100GS. Usually ride solo but riding buddy appreciated on that trip. I did some riding in South Africa and Lesotho last fall and want to go down to BA and ship bike from there to South Africa for more extended trip north from Capetown.
