North to South Americas

I'd like to find a travel partner of like mind / intention to head SOUTH.

I'd like to start sooner than later. No set agenda, living on the cheap experiencing all there is to offer in a safe / sane way.

I'm a V-Strom 1000 rider with limited long distance experience. I'll be well equipped and ready to ride. Open to routes, starting point ect.

I want to see Alaska too but think it's too cold to head north first.

Sounds Great!!

Hey mate, I'm from Sydney Australia, looking for someone to do the same journey. Will be flying into LA on the 26 May to buy a bike and hopefully start riding down south ASAP if you can wait. I am 28 and have riding experience in all disciplines dirt and road. Other hobbies include surfing and moutainbiking.

I quit my job so now the journey begins. I am 28, pretty easy going bloke looking for adventure.

I plan to buy a KLR650 or V-storm in LA upon arrival.

Would be great to have some company as riding as a solo would be more difficult.

let me know your thoughts on meeting in the states for this journey.

my email address is dave.stewart7@hotmail.com and I am also on facebook under this address if you wish to add me as a friend.

cheers

Dave

Hi Dave,
Sounds great! I'm pretty sure Patrick
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...rs/islandspark
will also be joining us.

We have tentative plans to leave around the 28th. Setting off through Baja first. Patrick is a Canadian and riding from Vancover. I'm in San Diego.

If you need any help let me know. I'll be the old fart of the group if this gels @ 50, but very young in spirit.

You can check craigslist for good deals on pre owned bikes
2007 Suzuki V-Strom 650

So far the plans are to do allot of camping and see all kinds of stuff.

Pat has contacts in Costa Rica and I have a good friend in Panama.

I have lodging in San Diego if you need to lay over a bit. I'm also a mountainbike rider. Got some killer rides in this area.

Cheers mate, Rob

This sounds good! the 3 amigo's!~

I plan to be in Washington state by noon on the 23rd and will take a leisurely 3 or 4 days to make my way down to Rob's place in San Diego, where I will do a quick oil change and swap on some new tires before being ready to head out... Would welcome another rider (even if you are an Aussie :P hahah) to the group, this is sounding like fun!

Dave, I took a quick look on LA.Craigslist.com and found a well set up moto for you:

2008 Kawasaki KLR 650 ($1200 in accessories) - Nice 2008 KLR with Panniers and other goodies...

Not sure what you are looking for or your budget.

Pat/Rob,

Sounds like a blast, just want to confirm dates, are you looking at leaving from San Diego 28 May or April??

April I will have to push it to get over by then...considering its already 18th April.

Budget for a bike is around 6k with all the touring gear...So that KLR and V-storm looks pretty awesome. If you're leaving on the 28th May, will be over around the 18th or so before to buy a bike and set up ready for touring.

Rob, unbelievable that you have contacts in Panama, that seems like one of the more difficult parts of the trip, in finding a reliable boat that takes motorbikes over to Columbia...

Totally looking forward to the ride, hope the dates are right.

Cheers

Dave

Dave in La Paz

Dave,

We are leaving for La Paz in 10 days. You may be gone by then but if we can bring any small parts from San Diego let me know.

Good luck.

I'm in San Cristobal De Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico right now. I'm on the way back from my solo Victoria, BC to Yaviza, Panama to Victoria, BC trip. I'll be sticking to central Mexico on the way back since I came down mostly along the Pacific Coast. I have no set itinerary but do plan on heading into Oaxaca next. If your route happens to intersect mine, do let me know and maybe we can sit down for a Victoria and a chat.

In Mexico heading south

Hey all,

I have recently left San Diego and am in Playa del Carmen, south of Cancun.
I´ll be here in Mexico for at least a month more, after which I am heading south through Central America with Argentina as the ultimate goal.
I´m riding a 2008 Suzuki DL650 and am equipped with basic tools and moderate Spanish!
I have no solid plans or timeframe, other than riding free as a bird, and if there are no objections to another Aussie joining what seems to be quite a crew, I´d love to tag along!

All the best,
Tim
