Hi mate from Jake , sorry cant go along this time of year (Not insane enough) but if you give this booking code you will get 10% off the price.(return crossing code 3126R1) Seems your paying a big fare mind, I have just paid £380 for two people two bikes to travel in late May. If you travel sundays and come back Mondays usually drops the price a bit, sometimes it pays to phone the booking line and see if they can give you better days or rates before booking online. I have often saved £40 -50 doing that and ask for freebies (Breakfast)chucked in - shy bairns get nowt. The ferry is now competing against a direct flight from Newcastle to Bergen so have lost certain types of business. Sometimes they can move a bit on price. However have a good one - hope the knee is good. Best wishes Jake

Joe, I have no idea if this will work for you, but it works for Brittany Ferries (only if you phone up or do it at the port - not online).

Try asking for a bunk in a shared cabin, they're often very cheap (BF is £15), and because so few people ask for them it's incredibly rare to share (mind you more people know now, so ....).

I've done this for years, and even better if they use those punch cards for the lock you get in quick, through your bags over all the beds and then go out taking all the cards. If anyone else comes along, they get to the locked door, go back to the reception and because they can't be bothered at reception, they just give out another cabin number, so you get a cabin to yourself.

Like I said no idea for this route, but always worth a try.

cheers guys,
will try all avenues. The problem is that I left it late until I booked, unfortunately, I had to do that due to not being sure how the restrung knee would be.
I have opted for a shared cabin before, There was 1 bloke in it, I shuffled in, complete with full winter riding clobber, helmet, and kit bag. I dekitted, had a shower and a noisy dump, hey presto, when I emerged, he had gone.
4 berth to myself......:thumbup1:

Even if you have booked ask to have the discount code applied retrospectivly - I did and they re-imbursed me £40.00 after I had paid in full last month. Jake. Last time I did the shared cabin thing I ended up with 2 pissed lorry drivers farting and snoring and a very smelly backpacker and as you say no where to put bike gear. I ended up sleeping in one of the lounges with the cleaners hoovering around me and security telling me I should not sleep there - Nightmare. never again.

hi,
motorsport travel (01759) 301010 are doing the same price as the discounted rate (maybe a bit cheaper), they were very good to deal with in jan 2007 when i changed my sailing times without much notice, so I will go back to them!
It's nice to deal with human beings too :-)

And no, I couldn't get an extra discount for advertising them.......

cheers,:mchappy:

Tried motorsport travel they could not match the price I got off dfds this time.

Joe C90 7 Jan 2008 22:53

When i tried to book and pay through Motorsport they found the discounting had beeen stopped and I would have to pay full whack of £425. they were as Peed off as me, the guy I spoke to was not happy with DFDS.
I tried on the internet booking, and although Jakes code wasn't still valid, a quick google of DFDS discount codes gave a tour companies code of 2963RI for return tickets and 2963SI for single trips. So at least I got my 10% off (cheers jake for the initiative).

still cost me £362.90.

DFDS, Robbing gits.
