MYANMAR - India to Thailand Dec 2015 or Jan 2016

Hi all,

me and my girlfriend plan to cross Myanmar from india to thailand with our OWN 4x4 VEHICLE in the end of December 2015 or beginning of january 2016.

Duration 14-16 days.

I already started requests to six different agencies and waiting for response about itinerary and costs. As soon as I receive more infos, I will post them here.

Unfortunately recent groups in this forum go much earlier or much later, or vice versa.

If there's anybody out there, who likes to cross at the same time, or if someone already got a booked tour, where we can hop on - feel free to contact me! :thumbup1:

Hi Thomas

I am interested - however I'm tied to Burma Senses as I have an existing deposit for a tour that I had to pull out of. Have you been in contact with them? They have a group of 5 leaving on 5th Jan for 14 days.

Hi,

I am also planning to cross myanmar before 19 Jan, which is last day of my india visa. I have a motorcycle and I am alone. This price is way too much for me. And If I am not wrong you are 5 people total now, which I heard better prices before 5-6 people groups.
I will follow this group. I hope more people will join.

I asked this agency about 3-4 days pass whit 2 bikes and 3 people. His answer(somehow he thought 2 bike 5 people!!!)

Dear Polox,

If you are traveling overland all the way from Indai/ Myanmar border to Myanmar/ Thai South you need 3-4 days.
Providing that you arrive at Tamu/ Myanmar border first thing in the morning, you may be able to get to Mandalay by shared taxi on the same day. You need to give one day each to travel from Mandalay to Yangon and Yangon to Myawaddy (Thia border south). Depending on your arrival time you may have to give one more day each before proceeding to Yangon or Myawaddy.

You need permission and licensed tour guide service to enter/ exit from Tamu/ Moreh - India/ Myanmar border. Only a local tour operator can applied it on your behalf - who are obliged to provide permission application as well as a licensed tour guide (usually sent from Mandalay). Due to the process and effort involved and the compulsory services that has to be provided, border crossing is not necessarily the cheapest option.

We only accept a minimum 4 week advanced booking (i.e. all required documents for permission, planned itinerary in Myanmar and full payment online and the booking must be received 4 weeks prior to your arrival at the border).

You can see all other details on our website including required documents, booking procedure and payment methods on our website.

I hope this information helps.

Kind Regards

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

As mentioned, the head costs are very high and if you have more people in your group the price can come down very significantly - depending on the number.

For 2 bikes and 5 passengers our prices are as below.
For a 3 day crossing: US$ 530 per person (Total: USD 2650 for 2 bikes and 5 passengers)
For a 4 day crossing: US$ 562 per person (Total: USD 2810 for 2 bikes and 5 passengers)

Our price includes:
MTT & Road Authority Transport permissions for both vehicles and passengers
Throughout Licensed tour guide (as required by MTT)
Throughout MTT Liaision officer (as required by MTT)
Throughout support vehicle with driver & fuel (as required by MTT)

Our price excludes:
Accommodation
Toll fees for clients' vehicles
Fees for the temporary Myanmar Number plate for a foreign vehicle to travel in Myanmar (about USD 50 per vehicle)
Any other not mentioned in our price inclusion
I hope this information helps.

Hi guys,

THIS thread is about asking for a 14 days trip in December or January.
If you do not have anything to provide in this case than just open your own thread and do not confuse other helpful hubb members.

Thanks for understanding

I also mentioned that I may join this group. And also asked a question.

There are not thousands of people crossing Myanmar in January. Sharing infos in same topic always more useful in forums, instead of multiple topics.

Whatever, you can enjoy your 14 days topic or I may ask again to learn, what is the last situation, how many people total now and what will be price if I join also this group ? Which is high possibility bec. it seems this is the only group crossing Myanmar in January.

Thank you.

Hi guys,
we confirmed to travel with the group on 5th january with Burma Senses.

The price is now at 1350 USD pp for us but only because we skipped some nights in hotels as we can sleep in our car.

Still the price would be at 1490 USD if every night will be spend in hotels.
It seems that we are a group of six at the moment, i guess 4 bikes and 1 car, but not quite sure.

There is still room for more people!
