Morocco in May

Anyone interested in a Morocco bike trip in May? I’m looking at leaving UK at the start of May and probably going Portsmouth Santander. Riding through Spain to Algeciras and taking the ferry to Tangier Med. Route would probably be be Fez and south taking the gorges through the Atlas to Oarzazate. Possibly to the coast at Essouria and back through Marrakesh. Perhaps some light off road riding but nothing extreme. Around 10 days in Morocco. I have a KTM 790 Adventure.
I have done Morocco once before but not this exact route. This is not a commercial trip but I would be happy to do the basic organisation. Anyone interested? Would only be a small group.

May is a lovely time to visit, still very green, long daylight hours, and not too hot. And my last motorcycle trip to Morocco was on my KTM 790 Adventure. It's a great bike for eating up the miles on fast roads as well as being capable of not-too-difficult dirt roads. I'm not a candidate for your trip as I shall be in Morocco in April, however I hope you wouldn't mind some pointers...

Sharing a cabin on the ferry cuts costs dramatically, as does finding someone who will let you use their Club Voyage membership as a guest, it saves 10% on vehicle and passenger fares (but not cabins).

Use the excellent motorways in Morocco to make fast progress. But conversely, try to avoid using the national 'N' roads where possible as they are often busy, sometimes with impatient drivers. Instead use the regional 'R' and provincial 'P' roads which are quieter and generally more scenic. Here's a thread about using smaller roads from Fez to Marrakech.

If you are going to spend a whole day (two nights) in Fez or Marrakech to look around, by all means ride in and get a hotel, but if it's just an overnight stay your experience will be fighting through the madness of evening traffic, only to repeat the experience the next morning.

My four favourite places in Morocco (in order) are (1) Tafraoute, (2) Essaouira, (3) Azrou and (4) Sidi Ifni. The sand dunes of Erg Chebbi are probably number 5.
