MEXICO- Jan 20th -March 1st

I'll be heading out of Virginia and crossing into Mexico around Jan 20th with my Dad driving my truck and pulling a travel trailer. I have a new KTM 640 Adv and plan on wandering to Mazatlan where I'll be based for a few weeks. From there i plan on some day trips and overnights as well as a ferry over to Baja for a few days before heading back to the states.
Anyone with plans around that part of Mexico or Mazatlan during that time would be great to ride..have a beer..and share stories. I hope to head back next fall on a GS Adventure for a run south to the Panama Canal.

Hey friend , Having driven my van through entire mainland mexcio twice, and then my motorcycle 2 more times, I have found number of really cool places. Be sure to not try to plan your trip from home, and remain fleixble. It seems with approx 6 weeks, you have time for Copper Canyon, (park the truck in Creel), and perhaps Real De Catorce as well.
Having a truck is both good and bad news, as some of the roads between places ,like Espinosa Diablo ( Devil's backbone) from Durango to Mazatlan is a joy on a bike and a drag in a truck.

Be aware that the Ferry from Mazataln to La Paz is not cheap, the truck adding greatly to the cost.
You may consider crossing From Guaymas to Santa Rosalia, to check out places in Baja. There are great seaside camping places south of Mulege.
Anyway, if you have more questions contact my email, (sbandnorton@yahoo.com).
I have many more good places as well.

Juan
