Hi We are an English couple staying just North of San Diego and are crossing the border this Saturday probably at Tecate. Is any body else in the area with similar plans.

Hi Albert

I crossed at Tacate about 2 weeks ago. They let me in to Mexico but couldn't do the import permit for the bike there and sent me to Tijuana.

Tecate paperwork

From previous posters on the HUBB it has become clear that the Tecate crossing does not do the TVIP paperwork anymore, probably because of sparsity of demand. Most people entering Baja here ar e there for Baja business or only intending to spend a week or weekend at one of the Baja beaches or trailride.
This is not a problem for tourists planning to go to La Paz and then ferry to the mainland because the whole peninsula is considered frontier zone, not needing TVIP . For those taking the ferry they can get the TVIP at the ferry terminal in Pichilingue when they get there.Or you might get it online well ahead of your entry, but that requires waiting for actual delivery does't it?
The Tecate crossing is very easy, uncrowded, and a nice ride down Mex 3 to Ensenada

Yepp, can confirm. Crossed at Tecate about 8 weeks ago. We got the import docs for the motorcycle after the ferry from Santa Rosalita to Guyamas. There is a terminal along the road south of Guaymas ( I think at km 98 of the road).
