Mazatlan to La Paz Ferry Jan 18th

I am at the border in Nogales about to head south into Mexico. Finally decided that I will be returning via Baja and crossing the Sea of Cortez on the 18th of January.

I just tried to book a cabin online, does not seem to work. Anyone taking the ferry that day? If you have a spare bunk in your cabin, happy to split the costs and buy some beers at the bar.

Cheers,

Leigh

Depending on your route and time schedule, I'd consider taking the Topolobambo Ferry instead of Mazatlan. I believe BOTH go every day. No need for reservation and cabins are always available unless a special event or religious holiday is on.

The Maz to La paz run is about 14 hours (if things go well doh), Topo Lapaz, 5 hours, 6 if rough. Runs at night, usually CALM. Also MUCH cheaper.

Its about a half day ride from Topo to Mazatlan. You decide.

If me, I'd be heading inland to Zacatecas, Guanajuato, and San Miguel de Allende, then power over to Topolobambo and catch Ferry to Baja. Those are highlights of the highlands, best in Mexico, IMO.

Have a safe trip.

Mollydog,

Thanks for the tips. I am made it Mazatlan tonight, thinking of checking out one or two of the places you mention before heading to Bucerias to meet with friends in a couple of days. I may swing by the terminal in the AM and see what the ferry situation is if they have cabins I am good for a sleep on the way to La Paz. I will be in Bucerias until Monday. Not sure about blasting back to Topo for the ferry from there.

Cheers!
