Malaysia to Europe, August September October, 2018. Share costs?

Hi everyone!

I'm planning my nearly RTW trip in my 2001 BMW F650GS. :mchappy:
From Kuala Lumpur to Europe.
I would like to share costs in the countries that guides are compulsory.

I'm managing alternatives routes as I'm too near to the date and didn't figure out this yet. doh

Route 1:
Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, India, Nepal, China, Kyrgystan, Kazakhstan, Russia....

Route 2: Malaysia, Thailand, Laos (Vietnam?), China (Mongolia?) Russia...

I'm flexible with any other route that take me to Europe in those months.

Cheers!! :scooter:

Hi Luis,

I'm interested in joining this trip. I'm currently in Thailand on my Honda CRF250M and heading south towards Indonesia. Would be able to meet back in Malaysia in August.

Monsoon season is starting in Myanmar, so not sure how the weather is around that time. Hopefully will be coming to a close.

Ideally we'd be a group of 3/4 to make the costs more palatable. I don't know the costs for china, but I have contact with a recommended tour group in Myanmar. I think those are the only countries that require a guide?

I'd almost written off the idea of riding back to Europe due to complexity so I would love to make this a reality and get there before the weather gets completely shit 😂

Also, what time in August are you thinking? Early, mid, late?

LuisRodMoll 11 May 2018 11:27

Hi Eurobob,

Nice to contact with you!

I'm planning to arrive to Kuala Lumpur in early August. Around the 7th. If you are arriving later I can wait for you riding around.

I have also contacted with an agency, called AsiaSense to get through Myanmar. Currently, they don't have any tour going our way in August/September, we could ask for a price for two or/and try to find more people.

In China is compulsory a guide and Thailand as well, but as you are there you must know better than me.

Once in India, if we can't get a guide for China, we could head west to Pakistan and Afghanistan. Where AFAIK guides are not required.

Cheers,
Luis

Hi to both of you!
This is what I like to participate in if we can fit together.
I am 66, and have a honda cb500x, Thailand's No. plate.
My age can be a showstopper for China driving licenses.

What do you think?

Ps had visit Myanmar, this year,13 days, in a group, using https://osugamyanmartravels.com and was very pleased.

Pakistan would be an issue for me since you need to apply for a visa from your home country (I'm a UK citizen).

I had not heard of requiring a guide in Thailand. Although I am on a Thai bike I have met a few foreigners riding their own bikes through without a guide.

You are correct for some silly reason the Max AGE to apply for a temporary driving licence in China for a motorbike is 60? but last year the law was changed to allow people to ride a motorbike legally to 70 years of age increased from 60, licence code is a C1E?.

I still think this is incorrect and for the life of me I can't understand and accept why "Chinese Law" which is applied to all (including western people living in China) that 1 law say ok and the other says sorry you are too old?.

If this law is correct then IMO it is RACIST by age. :oops2:

Hi everyone!

I'm from Uruguay and I'm living in Australia now, so I won't be able to apply for the Pakistan Visa neither.

That leave us with no option but to go through China, is that right?
We could try to get in without a guide, what do you think about that?

Pan, according to Nuff Said, you could ride with us through China!

Otherwise, we are already 3 persons to ask for quotes for a Chinese guide.

Just in case, my motorbike is registered in Australia.

Cheers,
Luis

Hi fellas,

I'm living at 30 kms from Gunnedah, NSW.

I'm trying to figure out the Pakistani Visa right now. Myanmar crossing it's almost solved. We are crossing in late Aug early Sep with Pan, joining another group.

That's too late for me Minotaur, sorry.

Hi ssrking,

Sorry for my late reply.

We've already paid 30% of a guide through Myanmar from the 5th to the 10th of September.

However, we are worried about getting visas from Pakistan and Iran. So we don't discard to change the route.

Do you have a confirmed guide? estimations of duration and costs for the guide?

Cheers!
Luis

From what I understand you are going to find it very difficult if not impossible to get a visa for pakistan outside of your home country.

However, if that is not the case I would be VERY interested to know how you did it :thumbup1:
