As for the insurance etc, can you just not get it in your home country (Australia?)and then 'add on' that you'll be driving in Europe? I had a similar problem in South Africa, but I got round it by getting a resident to do all the legal work and then put me on the insurance.

I believe so, if the US is in

Birdy

No I can't get a vehicle that is in UK (GB) covered by insurance In Australia.
I need to find a uk based insurance company. as the vehicle is still in MOT and tax at present in the UK.?c?

The vehicle needs to remain in UK mot and tax, unfortunately now I also need to get a export perimit to export it from the UK, and also green card insurance for the EU

So thats the problem I face.
This is posted her on another topic as well

I would say that it is better to work factors out at house before going for the vacation. This way you will appreciate more when previous does not pester you.:innocent:

I'd just like to say the opposite of those who are saying that if you go away to avoid problems they will still be there when you get back.

OK, so you don't get on with your folks - you're old enough to know that by now. Staying at home and working in a dull job won't change that.

Your girlfriend? Go away for a while and I can pretty much garuantee you'll have forgotten all about her in a few weeks. What's the point in moping at home when you could be on the road?

£3000 is good travelling money. That's a serious amount of time in some parts of the world - like India for instance.

If you can work when you go away all the better. I went to Australia a number of years ago arriving with less than £500. Got home nearly two years later. Of course, the economic climate might make finding work harder these days, you'd need to research that.

The other thing I'd say (and this is possibly controversial as so many people on this forum are fun-loving easy-going 'lets get together and go travelling' types and I'm essentially just a bitter old misanthrope) is I'd be wary of hitching your wagon to anyone in a binding way, especially anyone you don't really know. I'd opt for the flexibility of travelling on my own over joining a group any day.

Get money. Leave. Simple as that. :)

Have a great time. :thumbup1:

Can any one here help me with this UK MOT TAX problem

markharf 15 Feb 2012 02:41

Start a new thread. Title it "UK MOT tax problem." State your situation and ask your question(s). Sit back and wait for the oft-contradictory answers to flood in.

Trying to piggyback on an unrelated thread doesn't really work very well.

Hope that's helpful.
