'Long way up' South America - Nov 09 want to join the adventure?

Hi my name is Steve and I am embarking on a journey from the southern tip of south America up to its northern coast Venezuala - and possibly into central America and California - 4 months, at least 9 countries and 10,000 miles - we'll see how it goes. We fly to Patagonia buy a couple of bikes, get ready and set off.

I am looking for a patient, laid back travel partner to join the adventure. I also do some freelance work for BBC Radio and might record the adventure - you could help with logging recordings etc too. Think Che Guavara Motorcycle diaries and you will have an idea of this magnificient journey.

They'll be adventures made along the trip, people met, fun and excitment, as we travel through the continent. If you are easy to get along with, a good organiser/planner and one who does not panic, please send me a message and we can get to know each other from there. Best wishes Steve

Hi Stephen,
I am flying into Chile on December 10, would you be interested in riding to Salar de Uyuni around that time? My itinerary is on my blog if you are interested in my route.

I was thinking about circling the globe and then buying a pre-war Norton (not as much Che, but I love old bikes) to ride to Argentina. But it was too expensive to get my 1965 Ducati shipped to India so maybe I'll be riding south in a year to Argentina.

And what does the position pay? :D

I'm definitely in, let's keep in touch.

Thanks for the tip and good luck with getting that job

Good mechanical skills, Good at tire changing, Cook, Fluent in Spanish!
That should about cover you!

And what does the position pay? :D

Seriously though, sounds like a good ride.
Finding a legal bike in Patagonia could be a challenge. Getting a bike from another traveler is possible but getting it legal to cross borders
may present some roadblocks. See Xfiltrate (in Buenos Aires) here on the HUBB to help sort you out. Or perhaps Javier at Dakar Motos in Buenos Aires?
He has lots of bikes there, maybe some are for sale? rent?

Good luck.

No I don't need a secretary but yes the trip does involve effort but the rewards are fantastic - all the best and good luck finding someone for your ride too

what sort of rewards? like photos in magazines? to me the greatest reward is being able to hit the road and go anywhere... as I have suffered a lifetime of nagging.

anyways as I replied before, I need a partner to ride with :thumbup1: I like girls, motorbikes, beer, bbqs and blowing things up. If that meets your criteria then please let me know because I don't like being raped by Peruvians, which I fear may happen if I fly solo.

Best of luck. It sounds like a good trip. I wouldn't worry about being raped by Peruvians. I traveled solo in October thru Peru and found them to be very friendly. Of course I wasn't going after their girls or blowing things up. How is your Spanish?

Mate you don't need a riding partner, you just need to take an inflatable Barbie...

Hi Steve, I am definitely interested. I intend to carry on working in the UK through this winter then head across to the western US for the summer and hopefully find casual work for cash as I go so as to keep enough for a longer south american trip in the winter.
:palm:
Sounds like you have a lot of planning still to do and I'm glad you have set an achievable start date. How long have you given yourself for the trip or is it open ended? Keep in touch.
Dave
