London - drink - talk rubbish about bikes and Bolivia - anyo

Kids,

How is it? Drink? London? Next week? Dick and Jane are up for it, anyone else feeling thirsty? Colesy Boy? Simon? Etc?

Cheers, Dan Walsh

J&R 27 Jan 2006 00:57

Great idea,

Think Jane is going to draw the short straw and stay at home with the baby though, unless it is during the day and baby friendly? Nah... did'nt think so!!!

Cheers
Richard

Sounds like a good plan to me - just name the time and the place - I'm in West Londinium. Off to ally pally this Sunday - need cheap gear for the next trip, anyone going?

Is Jerome around or is he still out there?

Dan 23 27 Jan 2006 16:58

Can't do the Brentwood thing, how about next Friday (week today), somewhere central (if there's a few of us), or hackney-ish if it's just the hackney kids.

colesyboy 27 Jan 2006 20:46

ok, I'll try again with an answer and not post it as a new post.....Central is ok with me next friday....Dickie how about you?

maria41 27 Jan 2006 21:01

Is that a private party or open to London community? I can't make it tomorrow but could do next Friday, especially if it's in Central/South London. I noticed one of you guys (Dan?) went around South America. I am planning to go there next year for around 6 / 9 months so would be interested to exhcnage ideas.
I just don't want to arrive in middle of an old friends reunion!

Kiwi Pete 27 Jan 2006 21:44

Hey Coleseyboy, I'm inviting myself!
Pete

colesyboy 1 Feb 2006 03:53

Nice one Pete, if no-one has objections....8ish all?

sunflowers 1 Feb 2006 14:22

I take it that when you say next Friday on the 27th Jan (Friday) that the next Friday is actually the 3rd Feb rather than the 10th Feb. Either way let us know and I can probably make it - thanks for the invite Pete.

btw to introduce myself - I am another Londoner looking at biking the Americas this year so am interested in meeting those who have or those who will be.

colesyboy 1 Feb 2006 16:52

Yup, this Friday - 3rd Jan

Me too! Me too!

Oops. I was going to try and be biker-cool there, and I blew it already. See you on Friday.

Dan 23 1 Feb 2006 22:58

Obviously open to all. Waxys? Jesus. I guess we can move to a proper pub afterwards...

Dan 23 1 Feb 2006 23:14

Sorry to be contrary, but Waxy's Piccadilly on a Friday night will be a nightmare of shiny shirted postroom boys gettin slitty-eyed and chesty on Stella. Can I instead suggest the gentler charms of The Blue Posts, Brewer Street, junction Broadwick St, Soho, W1? Loads of bike parks, loads of night buses, all good. Si? Email me for directions, confirmation, etc etc and again, open to all have-been and wannabe overlanders.

Cheers, Dan Walsh

Hi Guys,

Hmmm... bit of a sore head this morning, but had a great time last night...

Cool to meet you all, and looking forward to the BBQ at Pete's place!

Trent and Jacqui

sunflowers 6 Feb 2006 15:12

It was great to meet up with you all. Very inspiring. I realised later that it would have been nice to exchange contact details. Anyway if anyone is interested in getting in touch my email address is on my website www.argentina2alaska.co.uk . As I would love to meet up and hear more about where to go in central and south america or just to go for a bike ride (which I successfully managed to do on Saturday - and thank you for all your well wishes).

ciao,
Annette

DougieB 6 Feb 2006 17:31

glad the Saturday bike ride went well. It was good to see some old faces, and meet some nice new ones!

I'm almost convinced selling up and heading to South America is the way to go http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/wink.gif

Here's a pic of Friday night. Also of interest to those with a hairy-ball fetish...

Mike 6 Feb 2006 22:39

Let this be a warning to you all:

1. Don't rely on a camera phone to capture all the beautiful sights on yr trip
2. Don't buy Jason too many pints ;-)

Enjoyed Friday night.. more than I enjoyed waking up on Saturday.. it was a pleasure to meet like-minded folk.

Hi Mike,
These are the only two photos I managed to get. I guess Nina stopped you from rounding them up for the group shot - but Trent came out lovely.

Dan 23 9 Feb 2006 00:04

All good. Though I'm not sure any of those pics will be appearing on the Horizons calendar. Unless there's a caption competition. I'll go for 'Er, why is a hairy stranger trying to stick his thing in my ear?'

No, really. Why was he?

Jac 9 Feb 2006 02:59

Hmmm...

A: I don't remember "coming out" that night

and

B: Don't call me "Lovely"!

Was a cool night and looking forward to seeing everyone (but not everything!) again...

Cheers
Trent

colesyboy 9 Feb 2006 22:54
