to go north: Leh and Kashmir (high mountains) and
back duration about 4-6 weeks

Hey mate , i'm curious whether you did this trip as i'm thinking of doing the same.... i've heard there are problems renting bikes from Manali & riding them to Leh ( might be BS) The problem being business competition / rivalry.... i suspect it might be BS by a rental guy in Leh wanting to deliver bikes to us in Manali... hope your trip was successful ...

Lee, the information is correct re. the rivalry and bike usage. Got a known person in Manali, who you can contact for any further info. Marcus - +91 97361 32666. He also rents REs for travel further up the Himalayas.
