Help in morocco

Hi, I am in Rissani in south eastern morocco and have busted my ankle. I am travelling with my brother who can ride home. I am resting up for a couple days to see if my ankle recovers enough to ride back to France. If I can't I am looking at what my alternatives are. I may need to get me and the gs1200 back to Europe mainland. Any information greatly appreciated.

Need bike shipped from morocco to Spain/france

Hi I am nursing a bust ankle and am looking for companies that the take me and my GS back to mainland Europe Even if I can get it to tangier I can ride it onto the ferry. I am currently in rissani in the SE of Morocco. Does anyone know of shipping companies that might do this?
I did a humm that was supported by an English chap (Tim?) who was based in morocco. Anyone have his name or details.
Thanks for any advice,
Niall - I'll know better next time!

You are allowed to have the bike in the country for six months maximum. You could get permission from customs (at any airport, any sea port) to depart Morocco without the bike then come back later to collect. But you would need secure (and reasonably priced) storage.

If it's the same guy I'm thinking of, the English chap with the same name as me was accused by several people of hiring out bikes left in his charge in Marrakech.

Peter Buitelaar does bike and 4x4 recovery and can be contacted at pbuitelaar@gmail.com and is on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/peter.buitelaar.1

Alternatively you are looking for a guy +van with a licence to operate nationwide in Morocco, to take you to Tanger. 1,500km round trip won't be cheap.

PS: I've merged your two threads into one.

You can find someone to transport your bike by just asking around almost anywhere in Morocco--certainly in Rissani, where there has always been lots of motorbike traffic. Be aware that the presence of so many European (and other) riders means you might have to bargain hard for a reasonable price.

I'd start asking at your hotel and if necessary expand to any repair shops you see. Basically, everyone has a cousin or uncle who is eager to serve you. All normal precautions apply, of course.

Note that Tim Cullis, above, is a far more reliable source of Morocco information than I. Nonetheless, I hope that helps.

Can a friend fly to Morocco and ride the bike, at least back to Spain?

TheWarden 16 Sep 2022 20:17

Getting transport should be easy, ask around locally someone will do it for a feee.

Or phone Ali Nassir in Zagora, he will arrange something, but the fee will be larger.

Or leave the bike, get oermission from customs, fly home and fly bike when you can ride again. The process is easy and the bike can be in Morocco for 6 months each calendar year (this is waived until the end of 2022 due to covid issues)

Thank you I appreciate your help. N

Sorry, just reread you post and realised your in Rissani.

2 options for help nearby, Garage Merzouga in Merzouga just as you enter on the main road. Or Garage Royale in Erfoud.

I haven’t used Garage Royal but the guys in Merzouga are recommended and should be able to help.
