I own a KTM 990 Adv here in NZ and wonder if its worth shipping across or maybe buy or rent for the period .. Any ideas thoughts etc welcome here..

Advantage to shipping would be I have a bike in Europe, but disadvantage would be either having to sell or ride back to NZ in the autumn.
Probably favour buying over there and selling again before I leave.

What do you all reckon?

The best option is shipping your bike to SA.
The second is to buy one here in Chile and you can travel all around SA without problems, because the bike registration will be at your name. At the end you can send it back to Chile in ship and ask to someone to sell it.

I reckon you should start your own thread (new thread, new post, new title) rather than hijack this one. This would be more likely to bring responses to your questions without interfering with what the original poster here is trying to do.

Have you tried a search for information about buying vs renting vs. shipping? It's discussed here a lot.

Welcome and good luck!

Leaving Rosario, Argentina late May

I'll be following the same basic route leaving Rosario, Argentina in late May. I'm sure your aware this is not the best time of year for the first part of the adventure through northern Argentina and Bolivia. Expect it to be cold! I'm a 52 year old riding solo on a 2002 1150GS. It sounds like we'll be crossing/passing paths along the way so I'll try to stay in touch. Hope to meet you.
