From Arizona to S. America

My girlfriend and I are planning on leaving from AZ on Dec. 1. We are currently living in San Diego but will drop some stuff off in Phoenix and leave from there.*

We will be riding a V-Strom. Taking our time and going as far south as weather will permit. We are aiming for TDF, but we may be not make it before it gets too cold. The first part of the plan is to go through Copper Canyon. Thats about all we have planned. The rest will come as it comes.*

If anyone else is heading that way around the same time we'd love to hear from you.

Hemuli 3 Nov 2014 06:34

I will be maybe 1 week ahead of you. Planning to cross the border south from Tuscon, ride through Copper Canyon and then everything is open. Target is to TDF and after this BA.

I live in Yuma if you would rather drop stuff off here and cross the border. My guess is you have relatives in Phoenix, but if there is something I can do to help shorten your trip even a little bit, let me know.

Three of us will be crossing into Mexico on the 18th of November heading to Tampico, Veracruz and Palenque and on to Ushuaia. Will try to take the new ferry Panama/Colombia on the 1st of December.

fargoin 4 Nov 2014 05:22

Cool! Hopefully we will run into you guys at some point. We are looking to take the new ferry across as well.

Yuma Simon, what a great offer! You are right, my dad lives in Phoenix so we are leaving some things with him.

AZHobo 17 Nov 2014 03:10

We live outside Tucson, an ideal jumping off point for traveling into Mexico via Douglas/Agua Prieta to Casas Grandes to Creel. We made the trip from here to Copper Canyon and back in 2008. Awesome trip.

We are will be starting our Transamericas trip this summer.

We do have ample storage and parking space here at our place and we would be happy to have you as guests prior to your departure. We have comfortable guest accommodations and we would love to hear your plans for your trip and share ours.

Plans, what plans?

Thanks for the offer. I think we will be leaving from Phoenix and cross at Douglas. We would love to meet you guys though and pick your brains a little. Lets try to work something out so we can meet.

My shock arrived today. I have dentist appointment for the first but I'm hoping that they'll call me in sooner cause I'm on a cancellation list.

We are currently in Peoria, doing a bit of maintenance, and then heading across to Baja Mexico for Christmas, our FB page is NoAgendaWorldTour, and our
email is nawt650@gmail.com.

Christmas on the beach could be a lot of fun with a bunch of Adventure bikes.

We are on two KLR650's.

onenutter 18 Nov 2014 22:45

If anyone's keen to head south through Baha I should be taking off from San Diego on the 24th. Looks like everyone's keen for Copper Canyon and is going south from Phoenix, I don't want to miss Baha though!

Am on FB as onenutter - Canada to Argentina on a KLR

I just came from Creel, a little spooky cause I did see some cartel action and decided against the train ride. be sure to ride the road down to Batopilas. you will never forget it. It was cold there last week, I finally shed my thermals yesterday as I approached Acapulco. right now in P. Escondido, 80 degrees plus at 8:30 pm, sure hope the surfing and bikini contest goes off this weekend! Life is good! Dare you to check it out. I'm riding solo, but will hover here and slowly work my way down into the Yucatan for Mayan ruin photography. I am a beach freak! whatever that means! There are some incredible beaches down here...

fargoin 19 Nov 2014 18:55

We are going to skip Baja and go through mainland only beacuse living in San Diego Baja is more accessible on a regular basis. Baja's awesome you guys are going to have a great time.

Smokechaser, what do you mean "saw some cartel action"?
