Extended (off)road trip Central Europe - Balkans - Mid East - ?

Dear all,
I am completely new to the forum and just registered here, so just shortly introducing myself: I am quite young (~30), finished a engineering degree course, and now have the opportunity to travel for some time. I am about to plan a longer trip starting mid/end April 2022 from central europe. My approach because of the current situation is to travel east as far as possible with justifiable efforts.
Currently I prefer going Balkans, Greece, Turkey and Iran. Visas for Iran and Turkey seem to be issued for me as EU citizen. Everything else (duration in every country, onward journey, ...) is open for me.
I will travel on a mid-size ADV bike (tbd) and want to see some remote areas, thus I would like to do some light offroad.
As currently no one from my friends want to join me, I am searching for some companions to travel with me, either just for some day trips or through single/several countries. If someone is interested, please feel free to PN me :)

Edit: As I read through the forum I saw several existing trips. So if you plan your own trip and would let me join you it would be alright with me.

I am in the Area (Cyprus) plan is to stay for 1-2 months, then I will head back to Northern Cyprus -> Turkey - Iraq (Kurdistan) - and then maybe back to Turkey -> Georgia ETC

I work during the weeks, but the plan is to take 1-2 weeks off to see Kurdistan/Georgia. I am not opposed to visitin Iran either, but I haven't done any research. So I will probably be in the area and would not be opposed to joining up for a while.

Turkey should be no problem, especially if you stay away from the border areas near Syria.

I would highly recommend going to Georgia too, it's a wonderful country to visit, with lots of great riding.

Yeah of course its my first trip, so I want to avoid political controversial areas.

Thank you for the suggestion with Georgia, it wasn't planned to be included but I will look it up!

Great, I will keep that in mind and update my plans here regularly if I know more details :)

Hey,

i was thinking about doing the same, staring about March-April:
Turkey, Iraqi Kurdistan, Caucasus, Iran and Pakistan
but Iran actually have stopped issuing visas and has closed it's borders in late December :/
Google: iran closing borders - none of the sources is particularly known to me, but they all state that they closed about 25-26 December for 2 weeks due to Omicron and we all know how closing for 2 weeks looks like these days. I'm searching for any updated communication, but with no success.
Do you have any sources that they have reopened it already in 2022 or are intending to?

I have even started looking for other directions, because of the reasons above. If Iran reopens, then I'm down for catching up together ;)

Going the Wrong Way 2

I am on a disjointed RTW trip which I am doing in stages
planing to continue my trip to Australia in early March. My bike is parked up in Greece at the moment, and I will leave Athens for Turkey and Iran, and make a stop off in Dubai.
I started this trip 40 years ago and traveled Europe, Africa, N and S America without getting to Australia!

Anyone heading that direction I would be pleased to hear from you

Chris
