End June for max 4 weeks.

Hello all,

I have a Eurotunnel ticket for Sat 25th June, with the return date flexible up to 1 month ( 24th July ). The only thing that's booked is a hotel in Reims on the first night, and I'd rather use it than not as it's cost me a non refundable £107. Other than that theres no set plan, although a few places that I'd like to see. I won't go into them as yet, but if anyone feels like getting away and can do those dates or close, then someone to share the ups & downs of motorcycle travelling would be great, as well as the odd beer. I'll be riding a Honda Transalp, don't like motorways too much, not interested in doing 500 miles a day, and intend on camping a lot. I live in Essex ( don't hold it against me ).
Cheers beer

Rough outline.

If it makes any difference, I have a rough outline of what I would like to.

East accross Germany, Czech Rep, visit Auschwitz, south through Slovakia, Hungary, Romania ( Transfagarasen ), and aim for Motocamp Bulgaria. ( a couple of days R&R ).
Then either West towards Montenegro, Serbia, and back towards Slovenia, or try to make Istanbul and use that as a turn around point.
The mileage to Istanbul I think would be around 2500, over 2 weeks thats a fairly stress free schedule, even accounting for a few days off.

Would rather not do it alone, nice to have people to bounce off, but if anyone's going that way and wants to share all / part of the journey would be good to hear.

Cheers,

Lee

Route

Looking to do a trip around the same time but not really interested in heading towards Turkey again. Any interest in swinging north after Auschwitz? Would like to go Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Could then head south through eastern Poland to take in Slovakia, Hungary and Romania as far as Cluj Napoca before heading west to Maribor in Slovenia. Based in Spain but could meet in Karlsruhe/Stuttgart area on 26th.

Hi,

Reims is a pleasant town in the Champagne region. Good opportunity to try little Champagne productions that never make it outside of the region, and at a cost that is so cheap it is unbelievable. Make the most of it! :D

Any bar will have a nice range on offer!

I will second that !

I stopped there last October for a night, I don't usually like Champers but I had a great time trying it ! Not such an early start the next morning though. God that stuff gives you a banging head. Nearby town of Charleville-Mézières is good too - they have Champagne as well :innocent:

Looking likely that I'll have to put my departure date back a week or 2 due to work, might mean I'm on the road at the same time as others.

Am also starting to wonder if it may be a better trip to not bother going as far east as Auschwitz on this occasion, and instead go south through Germany taking a more direct & possibly more scenic route to the Balkans.

Opinions welcome ?c?
