China/Xinjang Crossing Summer 2024
 

Hi there!

We are a german couple, travelling by 4x4 to India next year. We will take the north route through Kirgisistan-China-Pakistan. We are searching for people to share the costs for the ride through Xinjang. We do not have many information on how to get the Visa and necessary paper works, but we have heard that it is quite expensive. Does anyone have a similiar idea or has further information for us on how to find other travellers.

Visa itself should be fairly straightforward, but you have to apply at the Chinese embassy in your own country (not in the nearest country when you get there). My Chinese visa application was long before the pandemic, but the key was to provide a detailed day-by-day breakdown of where I was going, by what transport, and accommodation bookings for each night - after that it was easy enough.

For an overland crossing, the Chinese guide agency will give you all the info you need to attach to your visa application.

Thanks for the information. I do can find other threads where people have found each other to drive through xinjang in the past. I´ll contacted a couple of chinese agency, but none has replied yet. My plan is to

1. First get an offer from a chinese agency.
2. Find other travellers to share the transit through this winter
3. Apply for Visa before to start the journey in March.

So guys, let me know if you sharing a same plan :) It is uncomfortable to apply so much time in advance. There are 4 month in between the start of our trip to the actual xinjang transit. I hope we can find other people, knowing this much time in advance to do the same. Does anyone one how much the Transit costs?

We wanna do the transit around 1st of july. If anyone is interested, contact bing from drive china. He is very helpfull and kind.

I won't be going through China until 2024 but please post up and give us a review of Drive China. I am also searching for a good tour guide to handle the entry and exiting part of it.
