Canadian Maritime provinces in October?

Hi All:

I'm from Harpers Ferry, West Virginia (USA) and will be leaving around October 10th for a 3-4 week autumn ride northeast to the Canadian Maritime provinces---Eastern Quebec/Gaspe Peninsula, Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island...and possibly Labrador.

I'm perfectly happy riding alone, but if anyone will be up that way and is interested in meeting up for a day or more, let me know! I'm riding an '06 KLR650.

I hope you have at least 2 days without rain.

LOL---well, I'm prepared for rain, and expecting it. And if the weather REALLY stinks, I'll simply turn south and change my itinerary into an exploration of New England. (That's why I'm not setting an itinerary.)

Is it really THAT bad up there in October?

Well - yes and no.

You can get some absolutely perfect days, and you can get three day stretches of rain as well. I honestly don't think the weather patterns in the Canadian maritime provinces are much different than they are along the northern Atlantic states in the USA. When you do get rain, it's generally from fronts - just have a look at a weather map (a surface analysis) and you can get a pretty good idea of what's coming.
