Can anyone who tryed to cross the border into China please contact me?

I'm trying to make an online (small) database and post it online in order that people can make their mind up about trying and find out about real life conditions as opposed to the hearsay you find.

Much needed

Good on yuh Joe,

Yes, those with experience/ knowledge please chime in so this info is

How and where did you get your visas?
What were you costs for visas, other travel documents, guides and

Which boarder entrance points did you cross at?

There is a thread from last spring in advrider.com from a guy nicknamed 'beemer boy' who bought a Chinese 200cc enduro that was registered in China from a friend of his in Thailand, which he was able to ride into China with few problems at the border. You would have to find and read his thread, but shouldn't be too difficult to find.

It seems that the best bet is to go to China bike-less and buy a Chinese registered bike there. You need a Chinese local to vouche for you for registration purposes.

The quality of the bikes is somewhat suspect, but shops are numerous for the Chinese brands, and the initial buy in is something like $1000 US. Not that I have really tried to get into China, but from what I have read (yes, hearsay) purchasing one there seems to be the easiest way to go.

OK, here's the thread:

China or bust... - ADVrider

One of the people contributing there, 'Crazy Carl' lives in China, and is a member here, too, who could probably give you some help if you wanted to go to China so bad that you decided to purchase a bike there.
