Hello
Maybe we have similar plan, Do you start August first or at the end of the moth ? Do you plan to be in tdf for christmas , before or after? FranK |
Hi
I'll land at san diego at july 19'th and then look for a bike. I guess it will take me a week or two to find bike and prepare it. I hope to get to TDF at jan 09' but it is so far away... Omer. |
time plan
you can make it easily, try to get to Panama BEFORE heavy rains in September....that gives you 6 weeks, but you can manage if you are a little late..
what do you have in mind for a bike ? Vagamoto is here with me in Costa Rica for a couple of weeks more, from South Africa - he licensed his F650 in California easily. If you intend to buy a bike in states and then sell it down here or SA remember you will have to pay 30-50% import duty before sale depending on which country you sell it in. Bikes down here retail for 30-50% more also. Zig :scooter: |
I'm looking for a used klr650 (i'm landing is usa only two days from now).
I'm happy to hear that you didn't have problems to register you bike in USA because i had worried about it. My plan is to sell the bike in ARGENTINA or CHILE although i understand its not allowed there. |
klr's
I'm not exactly sure if you can sell it in Argentina or Chile without paying exorbitant taxes on it like up to 50% of the assessed value...Paraguay I've heard is easier to sell...some links on HUBB I read.
I didnt register my bike in Cal it was Vagamoto who did look up his links on HUBB and send him email how to do he'll be happy to help I'm sure. vagamoto at mac dot com My tip - get a 2-3 yr old KLR low mileage as I've met people with the new upgraded and they are having multitudes of little problems, bolts breaking, etc and besides ALL the spares for 2007 - 1994 ? are virtually the same, the new one has lotsa changes. You can get a new BMW F650 for not much more dollars maybe 500 =/- !! Keep in touch Zig :scooter:.......................... |

Sell the bike in Paraguay or Bolivia. Almost impossible in Chile and Argentina. Good luck ; Andres |
