bogata to cartegena
 

picked up my bike from giarge today, big dent in the top box, but all is well other wise. Plan on leaving friday early and heading up through tunja, bucramanga, and up to santa marta. after cartegnea, heading south here and there until i get to equador. anyone familiar with the road from bogata to sangta marta? right now tired of the diesel fumes in bogata, but other than that all is well, anyone around?

Hey Eric,

I'm in Cartagena right now for the second time. Did the road from Santa Martha to Bogota some time ago. No problems there. All roads that I've done in Colombia are ok. Pretty riding north of bogota too. Don't skip Barichara and Villa de Leyva if you like tranquil colonial towns. And San Gil for some adventure sports.
I'll have to go to Taganga one of these days to pick up my PADI license (very cheap diving there!). And I'll have to be in Bogota to get a flight to europe next tuesday 20/10. So I may join you south for a bit if we happen to coincide. In any case I'm staying at the Casa Mara Hostel in Getsameni/Cartagena where you can park your bike indside but a livelier deal may be the Holiday hostal around the corner on calle Media Luna or the Art Hostal Media Luna where we also parked the bike in the hall.
Let me know if you happen to be in or around Cartagena by now.
