Baja-Mexico-C.Am-So.Am Start November 2016

Hey all, Name's Noah. I'm 24 and been riding/living off my KLR-650 since i was 19. Currently working in Northern California doing a wildland fire gig until approximately beginning of october, then i plan to bomb south to Baja, intentions to mosey around mexico and central america two/three months or so before catching a sail from panama to Ecuador or Columbia.... Then spend 3-6 months exploring South America!!!

Seeking other adventurous, laid back riders of enduro/dual sport bikes who are interested in grouping up, to make wildcamping, border crossings, and city stays safe and feasible.

My style of trip is this: impromptu, go with the flow, and let life dictate the route, speed, destinations. While i love being on my bike, i dont fancy spending back to back days crunching miles, unless completely necessary. I'd like to immerse myself in the cultures peoples and regions as much as possible, and blowing past potentially cool areas day in day out to meet deadines isnt my idea of that.

Ideally would be camping as much as possible, and couchsurfing/blending/hosteling up when necessary or when the fancy so strikes. Having grown up in Miami, i have lots of friends that have family and connections throughout central and south America, and plan to blend home stays and local guides whenever possible.

A little about me: Single, 24 (25 in nov.) looking to blow my considerable life savings on a trip of this magnitude. Dont necessarily have a window to be back to anywhere in particular. Wildland Firefighter, Wilderness EMT, Licensed Boat Captain, experienced Backpacker, Backcountry hiker, and am pretty handy with troubleshooting mechanical issues on motorcycles, as i have done most of the work on my own klr over the years (still getting my tube/tire changing skills down to a science, damn you snake bite!!!) I'm an amateur spanish speaker but working on it in advance of the trip, hoping to be conversational in the following months. Love zany, crazy adventures and nights out on the town, preferring to check out local spots and stay off the beaten path. Will likely be writing/video/gonzo documenting the journey and publishing content on my website for the use of gaining sponsorships/free stuff/extending travel indefinitely (book in the works if the trip warrants such publication)

The rough plan is as follows:
I'd like to be in Ensenada Baja for a part of the Baja 100 in the middle of November, then onward to La Paz, ferry across to the mainland, and mosey around mexico before heading south through central america, and preferably take a sail with the bikes into south america, following (roughly) the western coast down to TDF, then back up the eastern side of SoAm (brazil, etc) and back to columbia to perhaps have my bike shipped back home.

Know this has been a wordier post, so if you've made it this far, its probably worth replying or dropping me a message.

Cheers!

Heading south...travel buddy wanted

Hey Noah,
Just reaching out to anyone who may be making the trip, have messaged a few of you.

I don't know if you have been routinely reviewing your post, but I thought I would give it a try.
I am a single lady, hoping to meet up with others traveling south.
This is my first motorcycle trip and was hoping to not have to do it entirely solo. I noticed there were several riders expressing an interest and wanting to travel in the same general direction around the same time frame, was hoping I may be able to connect up with atleast one of you to see if we may be a good fit.
About me: I'm a novice rider on a dr650.
Would like to leave October ...primarily for weather concerns...I live in Tucson...and right now it's HOT! October the weather is much more comfortable.
I don't have an exact route, or timeframe...and I am extremely flexible.
I would like to travel comfortably...taking it a bit slow as to enjoy the sights. Don't mind camping or hostels or hotels. I tend to travel a bit conservatively.
If it doesn't strike fear in you to travel with a novice female...send me a text and maybe we could chat further.

Cynthia

Noah,

Your travel style might match mine. :)

I'll be heading up to the PNW area in the this month from SF, then turning around mid-September to head back for the HUBB CA west meetup in September.

Maybe we can meetup along the way? What town are you in now?

Noah,
Just returning from Asia for a year.... ordering a new bike.
I am retired veteran (43) ready to set off on a round the world.
Starting in the fall. I have lived in the Baja before and wish to make it to Patagonia then check on transport to Cape town. I am a seasoned mechanic and traveler.
I hope to travel with others because alone is fine but sharing with others is much better.
I am currently in Utah. I also saw Cynthia's post below maybe a big group will form.
Look forward to seeing what develops.

Add me as another who is on the same path (USA to Patagonia) on a DR650. 38 year old male, speak some spanish, have intermediate level of riding/wrenching experience.

My current schedule has me crossing into Mexico via Texas during the first week of October. Hoping to hit Copper Canyon, so likely taking the west or west-central route through the country, although I have no set plans or schedule, just a list of things I'd like to see/do.

All times are GMT +1. The time now is 00:02.
