Australia- Savannah Way (Cairns to Broome) - Late August
 

Hi All,

After Cairns to Cape York we are doing the Savannah way across Australia. This will include stops in Darwin and region, National Park visits and the Gibb River Road. It will take approximately 1 month and it will be a mix of bitumen, graded dirt and rough dirt. We will be camping as much as possible to save money.

Hi Tom,

I'm at the other end of the Savannah Way. The Gibb River Road is fantastic this time of year but may be quite corrugated by August. Still completely doable though.

One month is not long to do the trip from Cairns, is there a way you can extend it? I could spend weeks (and do) camping at different gorges along the Gibb River Road.

What are you riding? I take my R1200GSA along the Gibb and it eats it up! This weekend just gone met another GSA rider along the road too and he said the Kununnurra end was pretty rough.

I'm in Derby if you want to catch up to swap stories later.
