It´s going to be pretty cold there in March and will quite possibly have lots of snow.
Cheers

Whilst in the Leipzig area it would be good to visit Colditz Castle for it's war history. Try to spend some time in Meisen too, it has an amazingly pretty old town. What hotel are you using in Osweicim? I've stayed at the Hotel Galicija which I can recommend. In that area its worth spending a day or so in Krakow to visit the old town, Wawel Hill and Kazimeirz.

Second that suggestion to visit Colditz. It's got a (very) small museum and you can stay in the castle as the part that used to be german barracks has been converted to a hostel. You can pay extra to get a room for yurself if they have capacity, which I would expect them to in March. Colditz is quite a nice wee town, too.

:)

I hope it will not be as cold as Northern Europe has been the last two years!

thanks tourider i did not know colditz was near leipzig. the hotel im in is about 10mile out side auschwitz in the next town over called tychy the hotels called Gloria, i was looking for some thing to do after aushwitz, so i might go back to leipzig and have a look at coldits, did some say you can stay there?

Colditz is now a youth hostel, rated as one of the top ten in the world. It cost about £27 per night half board this year. The castle has a small museum and guided tours are available. The general tour costs about 7 Euros but there is an excellent English language tour based on the castle's time as Oflag 4C, this is presented by Steffi and costs 15 Euros. You may have to book in advance as the tour is only run when Steffi knows there will be customers for it.

There is also a really good inexpensive restaurant in the town square just down from the castle.

Planning a similar tour from Scotland in May, Newcastle/Holland/Germany/ Poland. Weather should be better.
