Anyone is Ushuaia? (1st Feb)

Hi guys, I'm in Rio Gallegos heading for Ushuaia tomorrow. Just wandering who's about, where they're staying etc.

I'm a Brit on a F650 Dakar and have come down from BA on Ruta 3. Will head back up Ruta 40 but will head for Punta Natales first.

It'll be great to meet for beers etc!!!

happy travels!!
Greg

Hi Greg,

Matt here on an AT also from Guildford. Riding down to Ushaia over the next week. Must meet up for that beer we talked about soem time back. Have seen a few bikes leaving Bariloche over the past few days so your bound to meet a few.

Cheers,

Matt

cheers Matt!

Looking forward to that beer!

I think Bariloche and Ruta 40 is definatley the better route. I came Ruta 3 down the east, extremely flat, bloody windy and not much to see.

I'll be doing Ruta 40 northbound, so I'm sure we´ll meet somewhere. If you see a ridiculously overloaded 650 Dakar, riden like an idiot, good chance it's me!

luego!

Hi Greg,

Are you coming up the Carreterra Austral? An absolutely fantastic road but fairly dangerous! I am currently in Coyhuiqui in need of major bike work following a big hit from a pick-up truck. Hope to see you this way!

Cheers.

Matt

Holy crapolla - I hope the pick-up was OK?

Sorry to hear about the accident - hope you can get it sorted OK. Doesn't sound like you were hurt which is probably the best outcome!?

I've riden north to Peurto Natales in Chile. I'm going to do about 10 days trekking around the Torres del Paine park and then probably back into Argentina for Ruta 40 north. Sorry I'm not closer to buy you that beer now!

Is there anything you need that you can't get easily?

Real shame but the pick up is fine by comparison. Good news is that the spares have all been found at a bargain price and will be departing from the UK in the next 2 days. Possibly means that I will see you on the Ruta 40 for our Guildford reunion beer tasting evening. Happy hiking.

Matt
