Hey Tomrsewell, check your e-mail- I sent you some details of what I (we) are planning. Maybe our plans will jibe.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Folks,
Your time seems to be different to my dates.
But not ALL of You plan to start about Octobre in the U.S. .
I like to be around San Pedro de Atacama just around Obtobre this year and I am looking for other guys (or girls) to ride for example to the Salar de Uyuni.
That is a trip NOT recommended to do alone.
My dates get fixed in April, when I know, how long my XT600 can rest in Chile.
Should be for 180 days.
Is someone of You coming in this area at that time ?
Gerald

Hi Arne,

Me and my sister we will arrive in Montreal on the 22nd of May. The same day the bikes should arrive by ship. Our plan is to cross north america east to west in two months. My sister will go back home from LA. Me, I'll be heading south later.

I am still looking for part time companions on my trip through the americas. Your place (Boulder) seems to be on my way. Even the timeframe might fit :-))

Please send a short reply.

sam

Hello Sam!

I have decided to add Alaska to my route and leave a little earlier- so I would leave for Alaska around 8. June, maybe slightly earlier. If you can make it to Boulder before 8/6 then "Herzlich Wilkommen!", otherwise I will be on the road already. Then the trip into Mexico will begin in the first week of September. If we can work something out for travelling in Central America, that would be good. I have plans on riding with a friend from New York (who I met on the HUBB) for most or all of the way, but let me know if this can work. I would be very happy to ride in a small group.

Regards,
Arne

I am planning on leaving from vermont sometime around the end of june or beginning of july and going all over America. If I can get some more info I would like to do the transamerica trail www.transamtrail.com . Otherwise I'll be sticking to secondary and back roads as much as I can. my motorcycle is a Honda CT90 which I am modifying for more ambitious travel. Anyone else interested in traveling along...max speed of 57mph downhill, is welcome to join. I am on a budget so I wil be camping as much as possible. If the transamtrail deal falls through, then I plan on heading up to nova scotia, newfoundland area first, then going west. Might go for alaska, but have to see how the bike is treating me, and how the trip is going etc. The ct90 is a small bike, but is a tough easy to work on little machine. between the full tank and the spare tank it has somewhere arount a 200 mile range.

G'day,

I'm planning on leaving New Jersey (US) at the beginning of September for Central & Sth. America on my KLR. I don't have any time limits, but (for lack of a better goal) I aim to be in Ushuia by about Xmas. If I (and the bike) can hack it, then I'd like to return overland back up to the west coast of the US, to Alaska, across Canada then back to NY/NJ for the flight home. I'm guessing that the trip could take 6-18 months; I've got *no* deadlines but have never tried anything near this big, so I don't know what'll happen http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif If anyone wants to hook up at some stage, drop me a line, I'll be out there!

James Courtier.

My plans have solidified as much as they're going to...
I'm leaving June 23 from New York to Nova Scotia, then back to Quebec for the Jazz fest, then out west to Alaska, possibly the Arctic Circle if I have time, then back down to Burning Man in Nevada, and some hiking in Northern Cal. From there I should be in Mexico, Oct 1, with a goal of landing in Peru or Ecuador (Arne - Galapagos Islands interest you?) around Dec 15. Then down to Chile, up through Argentina to Carneval, and then somehow back up to the Atlantic coast (Venezuela, Guianas.) I've got a 650 GS Dakar. My goal is not to miss any good parties.

JimmyGO!! 5 Jun 2002 00:33

For all of you who are leaving for, and who are on the Pan American, I am headed that way starting next week (June 12). I'm leaving from Greenville, South Carolina and making my way across the States stoping in various towns to visit friends and sites. I should cross down into Mexico around the first of July via San Diego. I'm giving the trip Eight months to a year so I can take my time. Anyone interested in possibly meeting up please let me know.

Adrian

Excellent! There's a good number of us heading down that way, that's good. Our paths will probably cross some time along the way. Tim, Galapagos would be great to check out, the high cost of getting there is no doubt more than worth it. Our plans (still) pretty much jibe. I'll likely cross into Mexico no later than middle of September. Adrian, you're getting a bit of a head start on me and some others. But unless you're real fast we'll probably meet up sometime. Safe travels on the first leg of your trip! Keep in touch...

rndmtim 11 Jun 2002 23:13

Anyone want to set up and intended rendezvous point in Mexico? I'm thinking south of Mexico City, since the various paths that people are going to want to take (east from Texas, west from California) will start to converge there. Also, there's tons to see...

Or how about further north, as there is plenty to see and do in the Copper Canyon area (esp. on bikes), how about Creel or Batopilas? I plan on spending at least a couple of days there, it might be a good place to wait up for others and then continue south. Tentatively Sept. 30?

rndmtim 26 Jul 2002 11:35

Sounds good to me. I just got to Seattle today, after 6000 mi from NYC, up to Newfoundland and across Canada. Tues my ferry leaves for Alaska, and if all goes well I'll be in Deadhorse on Prudoe Bay inside of 2 weeks. I'll be in Nevada by the first week of Sept, so Copper Canyon on Sept 30 is doable for me.

NewMexEd 13 Sep 2002 20:58

Still Out there?

I can't beleive there are waht seems like 10+ people all headed to S.America on a bike this fall. I'm leaving on Dec 1. Hope to see you on the road!

-Edward
