Horizons Unlimited - The HUBB - 2nd Bike available for Canada/States trip Summer 2019 if interested?

I'm not sure if this is the correct thread to be posting here so I might also attempt to write a few lines on the HUBB pub.

First of all, the bike has been purchased, the trip is happening and the below is a synopsis of the cunning plan.

Should the below be of interest to anyone could I please ask that you get in touch.

A new 2018 Royal Enfield Himalayan has been purchased from a dealer in San Diego and will be registered and insured in my name. The trip will start on 7th May 2019 and a friend of mine, Richard, will be riding it to Seattle. Then a second friend will be riding to Anchorage where a third rider (Hubb UK presenter) will ride the Dalton Highway with me before returning to Anchorage.

The above has come about because one of the three got to hear of the trip that I am planning and that is to ride from Alaska to NYC and across to San Diego (possibly via Trans America Trail) before heading down through South America as a fundraiser for a charity I have supported for years in New Delhi - www.asha-india.org if you would like to take a look. This interest has resulted in the three of them fixing their travel dates and planning on joining me for a section of my trip.

So, on the 15th July 2019 the Himalayan will be sat in Anchorage and I am putting this out there on the HUBB to see if anyone else fancies riding east towards Winnipeg with me? The aim is to eventually get the bike near to the Toronto or Boston area where it will then be sold before I carry on with my trip. Clearly I have exhausted my friend list but in all honesty I am surprised (as I'm sure others are) that there are three.

There is however the possibility of further travel slots but it's just trying to get it all pulled together logistically so that I'm not sat waiting for the next rider when I should be making progress. Once rider 4 has been found we can then think about 5 and maybe 6 etc etc.

Richard - the first rider - is dealing with the finances (ex IFA) and how it's planned to work is that the cost of the bike (£4390 at current exchange rate) is being split between all the riders (currently 3) and there will be a small pot of money for servicing and consumables that may be required so that nobody will be riding a tired bike. I will be riding my own bike and will ensure that the Enfield is maintained and serviced and keeping its 2 year unlimited mileage warranty valid. Then, when sold the funds will be divided equally between the owners. I think that this will be one of the cheapest ways to do a North America / Canadian road trip. The more riders the cheaper it will be for all participants. The only reason it will be registered and insured in my name will be to make riding and the eventual selling less of an issue. Richard will be the point of contact for the funds and has a separate bank account set up for the bike. I am having no financial involvement in the bike apart from attempting to get the best possible price for it at the end. There is an option of getting it back to the supplying dealer but having that amount of riders organised would appear unlikely. That is unless you quit your job and join the trip for a couple of months.

So that's basically the plan.

As for me, I am not in the habit of posting much on this site (as can be checked) and nor am I overly involved in social media. Hopefully this doesn't come across as arrogance but is more about being a little old fashioned and preferring not to blow my own trumpet.

I am apparently well traveled but in my opinion it never feels like that.
I enjoy a challenge and have been fortunate enough to have ridden to India from the UK, traveled in the States on a bike I bought on ebay, cycled around Japan, ridden the entire circumference of India on a 150cc, taken people into the Indian Himalaya numerous times and also traveled in Africa to name a few. So much for my lack of trumpet blowing but it's probably best to share some of my experiences as it will also help support my statement that this trip is happening.

If you are genuinely interested (and could commit to a 2 or 3 week trip) please feel free to message me and we can maybe have an old fashioned chat about it. The route is not set in stone, but there will be a rough plan with the only timescale being your return flight and not wanting to be late. I love the outdoors, camping, motels (as and when) and also enjoying a beer or two at the end of a days riding. Relaxed travelling which would suit us both I'm sure.

I am not putting a deadline on responses but would ask that if you were seriously interested Richard would appreciate pulling things together before the end of January.
