The Ultimate Adv Bike? Lets design one.

Saturday evening beers beginning to flow. Lets play design our ultimate dream touring bike. Here's my thoughts, add your comments and ideas.
650CC+-, diesel twin cylinder, 6+speeds (why not an 8 speed with 1st as a "granny gear" for climbing, and 8th for a hwy high gear?), high ground clearance like a dr650/klr650, low seat height like a Wee or less, 21" front wheel, spoked, with hi fender, 19" rear wheel, chain drive? or shaft? belt?, all the farkles like bashplate, crash bars, barkbusters, hotgrips, etc..
why not a diesel? why not 8 speeds? OK, gotta get another brewsky.bier

750-900cc Air cooled Parallel Twin .
21'' front 18'' rear wheels.
Minimal plastic . Classic styling .

Thank you very much .:thumbup1:

Chain drive, but an enclosed one. Renew every 100.000kms.

BMW did until quite recently: G 650 X Challenge. But I'm biased :blushing:

My bike's dad is so fat.

Why?

Every time he rode your bike's mum, he got a cookie. :mchappy:

Plus shaft drive, 5/6 speed with selectable reduction gear, giving in effect 10/12 gears. Good comfort, max weight 180kg - I'd be happy with less cubes if it meant less weight. Oh, and electronic ignition and fuel injection but no other electronic gizmos, and serviceable good quality suspension

Already built:

2012 DL650
XT660Z

Both brilliant bikes. Slight compromise is the weight of each; hardcore adventurers will whinge but for the rest of us mere mortals, these bikes are great out of the crate. I especially like the Tenere.
