Tunisia to Cape Town

An ambitious proposal in today's climate but I am looking at the feasibility of riding from Tunisia down the east coast of Africa. I have been doing some research but a lot of the information is outdated. I am not one for believing everything the media inject us with as most often than not it is hyped up bull****

Am I correct in my understanding that the Libya border is closed to non-african nationals and that getting through Libya (even if granted a Visa or if the border was open) is pretty much a non-starter?

Are there any suggestions on how to accomplish this with minimising risks of being kidnapped or murdered.

In a nutshell, is it possible to get a ferry into Egypt and make a route from there southbound?

Many thanks

I’ve been looking for similar information but going from the East African coast(Sudan/Ethiopia) west to Morocco. The information I can find isn’t very current unfortunately.

If you’re familiar with the rider Steph Jeavons she just rode the eastern coast and just made it to Cairo recently. She’d be worth contacting for additional info.

There is no ferry from Europe or Asia to Egypt and has not been for many years. It is however possible to ship bike/car via ro-ro ship from Greece or Turkey to Egypt ( or across the other way) without huge hassle. Search the shipping database for info - including mine done in 2016.
