Shipping gas bottles with your vehicle?
 

Hi All

I asked our shipping agent if we can include 2 x 4.5 kg full camping gas bottles in the container when we ship from Sydney to Busan. As expected, she said it is not allowed because it's dangerous goods.:nono:

I didn't really want to get to South Korea and then have to try and fill up the gas bottles there.

Does anyone know what connectors they use in South Korea or Russia (eastern side of Russia as this will be our starting point) to refill bottles, o what kind of bottles they might sell there (if they have any there)?

Any experiences/ideas would be greatly appreciated!!:rolleyes2::rolleyes2:

Are you certain you can ship them .. even empty?! When I asked about my petrol stove (on the motorcycle) they said no. And that was uncreated .. so the bike could have some fuel in the petrol tank .. but I could not take the stove ..

Logic? Laws don't have logic.

Pumbaa, it depends on who you ask. When I returned to Australia, after living in Canada for a number of years, I even shipped back a full gas barbeque with two 9kg gas bottles, in the same container as my car. No one had any problems with that.

Geez, some shipping agents are picky or after making some more money out of you by declaring such a small amount of gas as a dangerous good.

If they allow you a tank of petrol in your vehicle, they should allow a couple of small LPG bottles, petrol tanks still vent whereas LPG bottles dont.

I'd just tuck them away out of sight and not even worry about a declaration to the shipping agent.

I imported a RoRo vehicle last year with a 20kg full gas tank.

As for fittings for bottles - you might have to do some serious Googling, I had three adaptors just for European Autogas. Maybe a group like the Self Build Motor Home Club can help - there was also a guy on here with a Mog who did a similar trip.

I have shipping our vehicle with gas bottles quite a few times. I didn't ask if I could take gas bottles nor did anyone ask me if I had any gas bottles. So everytime I have shipped I have had full gas bottles.

I think we will take full bottles and leave it in the car (somewhere out the way, where it won't be visible) and not say anything about it. If it gets through the it will be a bonus. If we can't, well the so be it. Will have to wait and see...
