The best way, IMO, look for a hotel and wait it out, even if it cost some $. It will be money well spent. Nothing worse than having to be in the saddle, god forbid having to wait at a border crossing to get processed...

We've had amoebic dysentery in Dakar which we had to sick out.
My wife got a bladder infection in Northern Argentina and ended up finishing the trip with it. That really sucked. The drugs made her feel ill, and she needed to take those 3 times/day.

I had to stop with bad stomach pains and lay down beside the road in the no mans land between Ethiopia and Sudan and wondered what would happen next, luckily it passed enough in half an hour to allow me to carry on. While laying there obviously unwell I was passed by an encounter overland bus which failed to stop, miserable bastards.

I started passing kidney stones in Chile. Luckily the pain always began in the early evening when I wasn't riding and 'only' lasted for three or four hours. However, the fifth and final one, a few weeks after the first, began its journey on my first day on the boat back from Bs As. This bad boy took 15 hours and had me climbing the walls.

The moral? Keep well hydrated, and not just with red wine!

Was vomiting blood in Taouz (south Morocco) a couple of years back. Luckily I was in a hotel not in the back of beyond, but that was a pretty unpleasant experience. I couldn't even hold down dioralyte!

As others have said you just have to wait it out. Soon as I was able I hit the road and made it to Ceuta in a day.

Caf broke her arm on the KKH so after it had been plastered she flew to Goa, we shipped her bike by truck to meet her and I rode down and caught up with her in Goa. :)
