Getting from Heathrow to Felixstowe

Folks, we arrive at Heathrow airport on the 1st May and are staying at the Master Robert hotel near Heathrow that night.

The next day we need to get to Felixstowe where we will be staying until we pick the bike up on the 5th.

What I am asking is what is the easiest way to get to Felixstowe. Di is way not good in underground things, tunnels, tubes and carparks. Are there any old clunker car rentals that we can hire a car through.
Or any ideas, busses, trains that stay on top.
Anyone heading that direction that we can get a lift with, 2 people,1 suitcase, pay for fuel, etc.

Cheers
Wilky

For bus look at National Express coach

You would have to get to Victoria Coach Station. Straightforward from Heathrow/Master Robert on the Underground (which isn't for that journey!) and would take up to about an hour with one change of trains.

The pain is that it's not a seemless transfer from Heathrow Airport to Liverpool Street Station, where you can get a train to Felixstowe.

It's a change on the tube lines, a change on buses or expensive taxi fares.

The Heathrow Express is fast but expensive and dumps you at Paddington Station, which makes it a pain to get anywhwere else.

It's probabaly be easier to fly into Schipohl and get a ferry - at least you'd get a mini cruise :thumbup1: (only kidding - although it would be 'entertaining')

Anyway, tube map :-

The Home | Transport for London website is pretty good if you're after ways of getting around London.

BTW - the only way to get out of Heathrow without going in some form of tunnel is to fly out.

UK Trains are at National Rail Enquiries - Official source for UK train times and timetables

I don't know of a 'Rent a Wreck' type outlet at Heathrow -it's the usual players and more than likely £££

Check out Enterprise Car Rental. They don't do clunkers but you can get an economy model for about £40 for 24 hours, they will pick you up from your hotel in the morning, take you back to their premises and give you the car. Get a one way rental to Felixstowe (providing they have a depot there) and go get your bike. Go round the M25, take the A12 turn-off, follow the signs to Felixstowe, it'll take around three hours if the traffic is good to you. If they don't have a depot, go to the docks, pick up your bike (after making sure that it's there and ready to be released), one of you can ride the bike whilst the other drives to their nearest depot. There ya go.

Nearest Enterprise Depot to Felixstowe is in Ipswich (about 8 to 10 miles away)

Enterprise Rent-A-Car
WHITEHOUSE IND ESTATE
GODDARD ROAD
IPSWICH, IP1 5NP

One days car rental from them would be from £40 for something like a Ford Ka although I think there is an additional charge for a one way rental.

Details for Heathrow branch:
HEATHROW (IN TERMINAL)

Another option is (as mentioned previously) National Express. It's a five hour trip (with an hours wait in London for a coach change) and doesn't leave until 14:45 but it would be just under £40 for two adults.
